2004 Mazda 3 extended rust warranty
« on: September 07, 2010, 06:07:14 pm »
I am new to this site and I am looking for some direction with my 2004 Mazda 3 rust problems. I bought the M3 last may preowned and notice some rust. I took it to the local mazda dealer in june, Edward's Mazda in Pembroke. I spoke to the service manager about the rust and he said that it was covered under warranty. I decided to leave it at that cause after all I have dealt with this dealership for 2 other cars. I decided that I would have to fix the rust my self. I took the car to a body shop in july 2010 and was told that their is warranty recall/extensions what ever you want to call it. I call the local dealer and spoke to Wayne the service manager about the extension and he confirmed on is in effect however I missed it in april. I remind hi that I brought the car to him the year prior and he told then it wasn't under warranty. He then siad that he could do anything to help me out. He refuses to admit that he miss informed me and no I am expected to pay out of pocket. He also told me to call Cornwall Mazda where the car was originally purchased and see if they would fix it. In other words he is trying to pass it off. I understand the extension has been in effect since 2007? can anyone confirm that? I am now out of warranty has anyone had any luck getting mazda to fix their car after warranty. If any of you are from the Petawawa or Renfrew area do not buy a car from Edwards mazda, they take advantage of their geographic isolation to rip people off and take advantage of the soldiers and their families in the area. If any one can help would appreciate it or if any mazda reps are on the form can you assist me with your shady dealership..thanks

Some people over www.torontomazda3.ca have got their rust problems fixed under the new, extended warranty, so I'd recommend you to search on the subject on that forum. I think by now the M3's rust issues is well known by both Mazda Canada and Mazda dealers, and If you can reach to the right person/dealership you might get it fixed under warranty as well.

However, even if you get lucky and get it fixed under warranty, I'd suggest you to sell it before the rust comes back, which is usually much shorter than expected in M3's case.

BTW there was a mazda rep posting on this forum not too long ago as well, you might want to contact him too, afaik he/she was talking about the subject as well..

Good luck
