This car is becoming such a joke here in Brazil that it received a new name, Slowester, ahahahaahahhaha.

Hyundai kept advertising it was bringing the GDI 140HP model but instead we received the DOHC model with a mere 128HP. Still it costs like a premium car, around 50% more than a Ford Focus.

It is usual for Hyundai to advertise one thing and deliver another one here, plus making statements like "The best, more sophisticated and luxurious compact sedan ever made in the entire World" on Elantra's advertisement. That goes without saying that the engine power went from 148HP to 158HP.

That's the opposite of here.  The Hyundai undercuts the price on the Focus because the Veloster comes essentially loaded.

DOn't know how, but Hyundai became a status brand around here and they fell free to put a ridiculous price tag on their cars. Darn brazilians and their lack of brains...

C/D has the 6M/T at 8.5 sec.

That pretty much agrees with my seat-o-metre. I was thinking ~9 seconds.

Yup. Once rolling, I thought the engine response was fine. The autobox worked pretty well too. No low speed awkwardness.

My seat-o-meter said about the same.

what a lot of people having been waiting for:  turbo Veloster -

With a twin-scroll turbo mated to a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder output is rated at 201 hp at 6000 rpm and a significant 195 lb-ft of torque at just 1750 rpm. That’s a serious jump over the standard car’s 138 hp and just 123 lb-ft of torque. With that power (and more standard equipment) comes several hundred pounds of extra weight, putting the Veloster Turbo at 2,800 lbs. More than a MINI Cooper S but less than a Civic Si, Hyundai can still boast a better power to weight ratio than either of those cars.

That should do quite nicely.
