If someone were to ask the question as to where all of the car designers have gone, the answer could well be Korea.

Geez that Veloster is freakin gorgeous and another bullseye for the folks at Hyundai. It seems to me they are really on a dream roll and can do no harm - design wise anyway.

Now if only those darn resale values would climb a little more..... ::)

This is actually my least favorite Hyundai design. I like all the specs. I like the Giant sunroof, but I think the new Accent is better looking.

Now do the boost!  ;D

It is a bold move for Hyundai. Something like this is usually a concept, 3 years before production starts. It takes balls to bring it to the market with 1 door on the driver side and two on the passenger's  :rofl2:
Great interior and an unusual, but stylish and balanced exterior design.

nice job Hyundai, the extra door doesn't detract from the coupe style, but certainly adds a great deal or convenience.  I would say a winner,

.....

Honda who?  Indeed.

Really like the proportions...although the detailing would likely make this look much better in a darker colour.

The Mustang has a glass roof, so I don't see it being an issue to it coming to NA.
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

Looks somewhat less tortured than Hyundai's current sheetmetal, but the overall design is just sort of blah in my eyes. Lots of unresolved angles, cutlines, etc.

The bold styling will either be a love/hate affair (like the Juke).  But Hyundai should at least get a pat on the back for bringing this to the US market...

Agreed. This car is meant to be bold and I'm willing to bet that Hyundai knows that it won't appeal to everyone (for that the new Accent or Elantra more fits the bill). But those that do like the looks may become some pretty big fans of it. It needs a turbo to really take off... but apparently Hyundai already has a turbo 1.6 DI that they are working on so... MAYBE! Also I like the idea that this is a sport hatch and it's not meant to cost $30k. It's mean to be affordable for people with much less money.

In the case of this vehicle, now that I've seen more pics of it, I think the question is "Where have all the bad car designers gone?"

I can think of a lot of adjectives to describe this thing. "Gorgeous" would not be on that list. This looks like the result of a dream, all right - a really bad dream.

i am really looking forward to going to the canadian auto show this year simply to see the veloster.  i have been really holding off buying a second car but if i take the plunge this would be in the top three being considered.

Supposedly a turbo of some sort is coming, according to Edmunds;

I hope they put it in the Elantra too.

I certainly wouldn't call this a beautiful design. When I first saw it I was quite disappointed in comparison to the great new Sonata/Elantra/Accent designs. Maybe they didn't want it to be a "cute car". If so mission accomplished.

But it is growing on me. It is kind of bulldog ugly that you get used to.

Also looking at some other colors from the show, like grey looked better and a dark color will reduce the busy effect of the front end. For some strange reason Hyundai supplied press shots that  exaggerated perspective from wide angle closeups which certainly don't paint a flattering picture of a car.

So the looks aren't enough to kill it for me. Unless overpriced, it will likely be on my test drive list for my next car purchase.

I have to agree. I don't normally jump on the Honda-screwed-up bandwagon but in this case... man they screwed up.

You know...hypothetically speaking, since Hyundai's hybrid technology is undeniably more sophisticated than Honda's IMA (at least from my limited understanding) it would be especially ironic to me if Hyundai out Honda'ed Honda and put their own hybrid technology into this car. Still... Turbo first! :)

Front end sorta reminds me of a Mits Eclipse.

Glad I'm not the only one - but apparently one of the few - that finds the styling strange. And Juke strange good. I'm disappointed with the design details and just find them overwhelming and disjointed, which is a shame because the darkened preview and camo'd photos and concept really had me looking forward to it. I'm sure it'll be a great car, but unless it grabs me in the flesh or is one hellava drive it's not something I'd be interested in buying.
