I find it hard to believe that those "high end" features are now available on an "economy", sub-compact vehicle. These vehicles are no longer economy cars (in their high end trims anyway).

Conwelpic, thanks for posting all this, it will really help people as its difficult to accurately wade through all the details and determine value for money (not counting unknown future values as used cars). The above comparison could perhaps be expanded upon and reposted once all the prices are known.

I am compiling spreadsheet comparisons, but as of the moment most have not posted 2012 info on their websites for me to fill it out, so I have a mix of 2011 and 2012 models.

However, in the meantime I've compiled all the features of the 2012 Rio 5 onto one page in a spreadsheet format, so it makes it much easier to compare features and also you can print it off.  It maybe sometime before Kia Canada puts this info on their site.  Hope it helps.

That's crazy how much [beep] they put into a subcompact nowadays. Who needs their gloves cooled?  ;D

p.s. It'd be nice if some car makers stopped calling vinyl seats "leather"

Wow! Another home rum for Hyundai-Kia! No wonder it is now Toyota who has to deeply discount their cars to move them.

Hello,

I'm new so I can't post a link. On youtube there is a video from "mediaservicetv" on the Kia Rio

If you search with "159vaOTsi" it's work.

In the case of the Rio - as with the Sportage, I think Kia has a decisive styling win over its Hyundai counterparts.

The new Accent, which I believe has the same engine, did fairly well in Consumer Reports real world mileage tests. I believe it got (in miles per US gallon) 23 city/45 highway. Much closer to the published numbers than the Elantra (20/38).

Another indication of how unreliable the government numbers are for comparison purposes. I believe both the ELantra and Accent are rated at 4.9 liters/100 km highway. The CR tests translate to 5.23 for the Accent and 6.19 for the ELantra.

Accent is right up there with the Fiesta. I expect the Rio will do well also.
