Interior cleaning
« on: August 28, 2010, 08:37:22 am »
I want to clean the dash and the inside of the windscreen (windshield for you pedants). What products does everyone use?

One issue I have is that the dealer obviously used something on the interior plastics, but when the rain hits say the door insides when the windows are open, it leaves marks everywhere. So I want to clean it but not leave any residue that will mark when it gets wet.

I used to use auto glym but I think it can be a bit shiny, and uneven on rough surfaces.

For the dash, 303 Aerospace protectant. If there is some grime or dust accumulated. Moist a microfibre towel with diluted mild dish detergent. Then use another MF towel moist with 303 and wipe the plastics and dash.

For windscreen. Elbow grease is required. The grime/residue stuck on the windscreen doesn't get off quickly. First clean with mild detergent soaked towel. Then spray Stoner invisible Glass on the windscreen and scrub.

This has been a pre-winter cleanup, keeps the windscreen from interior fog.

I keep hearing that too, but I don't know where to find it.  I couldn't find it at Crappy Tire.  Where can you get that?

303 Aerospace protectant is all I use on my vehicles as well as my customer's vehicles.  Once, in awhile I see it at Canadian Tire, but I buy most of my business detailing supplies from www.eshine.ca so I just get it there.  Another +1 for Invisible Glass by Stoner.

Meguair's #40 professional is the shiznit.  Restores to as new condition, does not leave any shine.

I think Wing has used this stuff with great success also.

Recently, I've tried this.  Not too shabby.  I did the interior with it before Julie saw my IS.  Maybe she can comment.  http://www.poorboysworld.com/natural-look.htm

I'm very happy with that product as well. I've been using it for years.

Fed up with always running out and paying top dollar locally, I recently ordered up a US gallon from AutoGeek. Great prices!

I also got my Flex polisher there.

Invisible Glass by Stoner - yup...good stuff that.

I read so many glowing reports about their products that I ordered up a case of their Xenit Citrus Cleaner & Remover which included free shipping within the US.

I saw their glass cleaner at Costco in packs of two.

For the glass, watered down white vinegar and use newspaper to wipe it off. That is what I use at  home and in the car.Cheap.Maybe I could put box together and call it something fancy and make a few bucks.Great way to recycle your old newspaper, sell them to your neighbours at a reduced cost.tell them you  have this new product as well,it will make there windows so clear!!!!! Ask your mother or grandmother what she used to clean glass.

I use Invisible Glass on the windows.  After a wipe down with a damp microfibre cloth I use the low gloss armor all on the plastics.

CTC has a spray can product for cleaning salt stains from carpets, has anyone tried it?  Does it work, or is it not worth it?

On mom's car...(mine doesn't see salt stains thanks to using 6 mil vapour barrier under my Pants Savers.  ;) )

I just use hot water and a soft bristle brush. I do not rub the brush back and forth...that might cause cheap carpeting to fuzz-up. I just operate the brush in small oscillations. I change the water often and when done, blot the wet area with an imitation chami or use a wet vac.

Depending how thick the crust of salt is, it takes time, but the end result is a mint carpet.
