$10k what car?
« on: August 15, 2010, 11:24:34 pm »
My buddy has about $10k to spend on a car. His last one went kapoot!
Thing is I don't know what to tell him to look at. First thing that came to mind was Mazda3, but he doesn't like it.

Right now he's looking at the Ford Fusion, Caddy CTS, and Nissan Altima. Definitely not my type of cars. What else is there that's more 'fun' for $10k?  ;D

Something from the 1950's, from the US, with a big V8.

Where does this $10k CTS exist, and if it does exist isn't there a good reason its $10k?

Fusion would be ok I guess.

You can find some really nice 1997-2003 3 and 5 series in decent shape for around 10K. It don't get more fun than BMW (for 10K at least).

Nothing beats fun to drive with the Mazda 3, but if he's leaning more towards a midsize, a Mazda 6 can be found for under $10k.

A friend of mine is selling his sweet BMW 2002 for $6,500 obo.

And your buddy will even have enough money left over for a night of hookers and blow. Doesn't get much more "fun" than that.

-Mustang GT?  Not the best looking, not the highest quality...but you certainly can amuse yourself with an ~300HP V8.

1998 Lexus GS400?.  300HP, V8, Lexus reliability.

-1998 Eagle Talon TSI AWD?

-S2000?  I have seen them that low..but usually the bottom end ones are $12K or so.

-Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo

-Acura Integra GS-R

-Acura RSX

-Lexus IS300

How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

Sounds like he wants a big car with some power. A lot of suggestions thus far have been sports car so let's get serious for a second. This is the obvious solution

.....

That's awsome!

Something a little newer?  Since he has "about" $10,000, how about the best FWD performing car around the 'Ring?

2007 Cobalt SS Sedan with 53,000 km for $11,000...game over.

I don't think that's an SS supercharged. It looks like SS trim level.

Supercharged was the only way the SS's came in 2007.  Later cars (and much better apparently) were turbos.
