Wow. Is there such a thing as a Darwin group award?  :o

Seriously, these testosterone and beer-soaked thrill-fests are nothing but disasters waiting to happen. Since personal responsibility is an out-dated concept, I'll fearlessly predict the lawyers will make huge fortunes pointing the blame everywhere but where it belongs.   >:(

Edit I just heard that some of the injured were children. I don't give a rat's ass if you want to put yourself in danger of being flattened by a redneck in four tons of airborne 4X4, but your KIDS??? Jesus Aitch Christ, how stupid is it possible for people to get???

I thought about that too. I guess the difference is the drivers.

It's not really.  But in WRC there is a much greater time lag between competitors which gives time for the dust to settle.  Driving flat out into that dust cloud knowing people are only a couple of feet either side of you is a recipe for disaster.  WRC and other rallies have had their fair share of fatalities too.

The difference is probably trucks are heavier than WRC cars.  Nonetheless, some people get a thrill begin close to the action.   Like running with bulls, there is a risk.  You can choose to take it or not.   If the organizers are smart, there'll be a waiver in the back of the ticket.
