Local Ford dealer has about 20 new cars and trucks on the lot
The 3 GM dealers have over 120 new cars on their lot
Looks like a very slow  come back to me

GM = money pit with no cars that I would consider purchasing.

Ford = No bailout and at least 3 cars I would consider having in my driveway.

I Ford seems to be giving the people what they have been asking for..now they have to hope that people follow through and actually buy the cars.

Ford had a long way to come. That always make progress easier.

I like a lot of their offerings now, though their interiors still leave me cold.

......

What do you mean by money pit?  There are people that just wouldn't buy a GM regardless.  That's OK if it's a GM...buy that would be silly if you thought that way about Hyundai.

The Cobalt SS has out-performed the GTI in several comparison tests!   ;)

How 'bout:
  • Equinox - Be on my short-short list if I were buying a CUV
  • Cobalt SS - mentioned above!
  • HHR SS - These things look really fun...and practical too!
  • Regal - Would prefer this over a TSX (which I really liked in the past)
  • Lacross - Apparently a great pick with the 2.4 4-cylinder...Autoblog would take one of these over a Camry
  • Enclave - Love the look of this...if you're looking for a large SUV
  • CTS-V - Performance sedan bargoon
  • And....a Corvette...performance without excuses (ya...it's a bargain too)

If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

GM - Love the new Regal and Camaro (Transformers edition)

Ford - Like the Fusion, Focus and Mustang (5.0 V8)

Chrysler - Challenger looks awsome

Hopefully these companies have learned a lesson regarding quality control and customer service.

Money pit

Quote
For decades, GM has not been an automaker, but a wealth and capital-destroying dragon. Some $200 billion dollars in equity has been wiped out. Throw in another $27 billion in debt gone -up, as well as “your” contribution of some $45 billion: well over a quarter trillion dollars up in smoke.

Its not that I would not buy a car simply becuase it says Chev on it. They don't make anything that appeals to me fits my budget.

I admire the Vette but with 2 kids that's not a possibility. Cobalt SS? Yes it performs well but its not available in a hatch, is old design (being replaced with Cruze but no SS version) and the inteior and refinement are not a comparison.

I'm not saying that no GM cars will appeal to anyone. I rode in my bosse's Lacrosse and its very impressive. I can see it would be very appealing.

But due to the bailout and bankruptcy you can't describe GM as anything but a money pit for the taxpayers.

CAMARO SS

I drove one, walked away a bit disappointed. Interior is almost 100% plastic, only the seat are really nice. Visibility is very poor, on the other hand it looks gorgeous from the outside. Anyway, I would let everything behind for the V8 roar, but then I stepped the gas pedal and found out that the sound wasn't what I expected, it sounded too much muffled. Way different from the Mustang 2010 with the old 4.6 V8, the interior was really well made, way ahead of the interior in the past Mustang and the V8 had a real V8 sound.

With the new pricing incentives on the current-gen Cobalt SS I almost parked one in my driveway - despite having an embarassingly plasticky interior, the car itself is just awesome and for sure the performance bargain of the decade. Around a track it will outpace cars costing two or three times the price, and on the road there is an impressive balance of road comfort, daily drivability and outright performance. Ford can't compete on this level in North America. The Focus ST over in Europe looks like a blast, but here they come up short.

....

Take the extra $$ that you'll save buying one of these (as no one wants them apparently) and put it into a custom interior.

http://www.diamondtrim.com/classic.html

These guys that can turn your interior into whatever you want it to be.  They'll take that "plasticky" interior and cover it leather or Alcantara for you if you wish - dash, steering wheels, seats, headliners, etc...
