Greater Vancouver dealership experience
« on: July 07, 2010, 07:39:01 pm »
I am curious as to what people think of the luxury European dealership's facitlity here in greater Vancouver area.  In my experiences the dealership in Vancouver is quite small, dated and lacking in facilities.

For example, the Audi dealer in Richmond Auto mall can only fit  5 to 6 cars inside the showroom, and the Mercedes dealers are very lacking, i.e. no child play area, sub par customer lounge area, dated and dark showroom.  Volvo is very small too.  I have not been to the prestige brands like Bently or Ferrari, but MCL motor around Broadway which brokers these prestige brand and Porsche is nothing special either.

Relatively, BMW is much better experience and I think its to do with the upgrades they have done across the country in the last ~10 years.

I would think if these so called "luxury" brand wants to distinguish themselves from the $20K to $50K car brands, then I would expect them to encourage better customer experience by investing in their facilities, but I personally find the building disappointing.

Not sure if this is the size of the market, lack of management leadership to make the change, or that their cars selling so well that facility is not a priroity, i.e. Mercedes don't open on Sundays, the reason according to the sale rep was they its working for them, when they tried to open on Sunday they didn't make any sales.  I think its a very dangerous attitude, because I think the sales person can be a critical difference in a competitive market where customer can know all about the car before stepping inside the dealership.

This is not a debate of these brands but just on the dealership's facitlity experience, what are your thoughts?
