1995 Lada Niva Cossack 1.7i
« on: May 30, 2010, 07:59:25 pm »
Needs some wiring help but happy with it so far. Traded straight across for my LeBaron.

was full of crap and filthy inside

Random duck sits on the dash. Sadly he hit the trash can shortly after.

The Niva came with these tools - bonus.

1.7L four cylinder with fuel injection using GM parts.

I figured out how to out the rear hatch - there is a tiny lever behind the driver's seat. Struts don't hold it up anymore.

Back was so full of crap I neglected to notice the rear seat was missing. Belts are there though.

The interior after a quick clean. I've got quite a few interior panels that where tossed in the rear. Not sure if I have all. The heater area was hacked when someone stole the steoro so I'll need to source that at some point. I do have the driver's side kick panel to cover that mess.

You, are an adventurous soul Arthur. ;)
There's no doubt a good story here somewhere about how this Lada came to be in your drive.
If anyone can make a a purse out of this sows ear it's you.

PS. I would've kept the duck right where it was.

You are one interesting dude Arthur!

Congratulations on the Niva.

Love it!!

Looks to be pretty solid - don't see much rust from those pics.  Looks like the clock says ~ 118,000 klicks?
But.... someone stole a stereo out of a Niva??

What are those extra knobs by the shift lever?

One is for the transfer case and the other is for locking the differential.

Cool find!  Just use a broomstick to hold up the rear hatch.  ;)

Already used the broom stick trick. I had a little hockey still for my wife's old Dodge Shadow years ago.

Its not very rusty for a Niva which is huge.

Another chance to post the Lada submarine video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRBGr39uJBo

Once you have fixed it up Arthur it will probably give good service for 20 years or so.    Don't forget to make it feel at home by:
Use cheap vodka as washer fluid ( or vice versa)
Take the windscreen wipers off when you park on the street.

 ;)
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I would have been tempted to use the duck for a hood ornament.  :)

This vehicle should be fun.

Hmmm...not sure if I'm supposed to say "good trade!" or not.  But it sure is unique, and that's definitely worth something.. ;D

Made a good start on the wiring - first smoke test tomorrow.

The duck actually went into the spare parts pile - I've re-considered - he's back
