Topic: 2000 honda crv need to replace engine

Need to replace engine in 2000 crv.  Was used and still will be used as commuter vehicle and has 550,000km on it, otherwise the rest of car is mint!   Dealer wants a arm and leg to replace engine!!    Could replace but car performed stellar!!  still running but getting louder by the day!    Any advice where i could get seconded opinion in southern ont would be appreciated.    Thanks!!!!!!

Look for shops specialized in the engine repairs as they might have a source for rebuild engines that will have a 1-yr warranty plus they know what they are doing when they replace the engine. Another possibility is to buy a engine from a scrap yard; many will even install it.

Forget going to the dealer for this type of repair!

Do your research and decide the maximum it is worth investing in it is regardless how well that car served you over the years.

A big thing with Hondas seems to be swapping in used Japanese engines, ie $750.00 for a used B20B CRV engine and transmission here:

Has to be distributors like that, as well as shops that specialize in JDM swaps in your area.
