Certainly not around here, here we have the sea of Hyundai Elantra.  That beauty is everywhere!!!  I would go as far as saying ratio 20:1 to the Civic in the Ottawa area.
I'd agree with you there Juke.  I'm seeing more new Elantra's than new Civic's around here too.

Same here. It's not 20:1 by any stretch, but I think 5:1 would be accurate.

The thing is that the new Elantra is so easy to spot on the road.  The new Civic can easily be to overlooked or you just think it's one of the countless Mk8 that are roaming the streets.  The updated 2011 Corollas are even harder to spot unless you see their tail lights.

Spotting those cars not a problem for me, I have only seen a handful of new Civics, the last 2 gens of Corolla are pretty equal, Elantra of all gens, tons of them, but the new one is sprouting like crazy.  On a different note, in the span of 2 days two Jukes following each other on the road, things are looking up...LOL

^^Agree with you about the Corolla, it's hard to spot the difference.  I have no problem telling the difference between the new Civic and the previous one.  And the Elantra is just night and day over the previous one, so yeah, easy to tell.

Doesn't matter how many you spot. The sales numbers speak for themselves. The Civic is out selling Focus, Elantra and Cruze.

Year to date, there's only 2700 units between them with the Elantra (40,051) being up 33% over last year and the Civic (42,748) being down 12%. Trends don't favour the Civic, especially after the mediocre refresh.

It would be interesting to see the geographical breakdown of sales.   Over the past 3 weeks or so the number of new Civics I' ve seen on the streets is increasing far above that of the Elantra.    Also, we've got 2 Hyundai stores within 15 mins of each other.

In my area [Halifax] these 2012 civics are everywhere.I think the recent incentives are working.

Seeing quite a few of them here lately as well.  $218/mo taxes included for a DX is definitely going to appeal to a LOT of people.

Agreed.  These incentives have gotten the cheap bastard frugal spender in me thinking about selling the TL for a new Civic... ;)

The lease is up on my 2008 Civic SI.  While the new SI has some creature comforts I would like.  The external styling of it took a few hits of the ugly tree on the way down.  Especially the backside of the vehicle.  I'm probably going to buy mine out.  But if I wasn't I can tell you the new one is not on my shopping list without a significant deal.

The quotes from Honda in the link were something else.  Paraphrase: "We lead the segment but are rushing the next Civic to market so that we can lead the segment even more..."

Arrogance is nothing new from the Honda camp, with their "why buy a car when you can buy a Honda" Civic commercials
