When it's rush hour, all lanes are fair game. It just works that way. I stay in the left lane because all the other lanes are going slower and since I am attempting to pass everyone you have to stay in the left.  It's a constant passing scenario.

Yup, it just somehow works the opposite way in Toronto.

This morning I got stuck behind a f*****g cab, obviously off the clock, doing 55 in the left lane on Hunt Club! The limit is 80 for crying out loud!  Guaranteed as soon as he's on the clock, he'll start doing 100.  ::)

Typical, cabs and airport limo drivers ALWAYS hogs the left lane, especially on the 401/QEW/Gardiner. We should call it the cabbie lane

Coming back from TO this morning.   In the left lane of the 401 travelling at about 105 km/h, in order.

A Lincoln town car or maybe a glossy black Crown Vic
A Full size caddy also glossy black heavily tinted
A Lincoln town car or maybe another Crown Vic
A Suburban with tints all round also glossy black
A Lincoln town car or maybe another Crown Vic

The cars all had   red  lights mounted on their passenger side front fenders.  They were not on
The front 3 cars, their centre brake lights were bright green. In fact those lights were on most of the time and flicked off sometimes.
The rear car was been driven by a woman with the sort of hair style one would associate with a police officer.
The front car was driving very close to the right hand edge of the lane, the caddy was at the left side of the lane such that the driver could undoubtedly easily see past the front car.

All of these vehicles could imho have been accused of tailgating.

The 401 was quite busy and it took a couple of km to get past this group as they seemed to be sort of intimidating quite a lot of other drivers  so I got a good look.   No fender flags that I could see. I could not see the number plates of the front cars and did not note the rear one.

I presume that this was probably a Government minister of some other high Poo-Bah.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

You should have dialed *OPP and have them charged with stunting  ;D
A subwoofer should only be noticed once it has been turned off.

Got stuck behind a girl in a CR-V on the Queensway this morning.  She was in the left land and wouldn't go over 105km/h.

GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't have been a problem if I was on the bike today...

Yup, it just somehow works the opposite way in Toronto.

I have also noticed this. Very odd. Seems like the middle lane is usually quickest.

On my commute home I have managed to figure out the optimal lane to take at any given point. I manage to pass maybe 50 or 100 cars (basically I'm going 60, they're not moving) over a 10km stretch.

If the Queenway is 60 km/hr limited and you wanted to go over 50 km over the limited , I think you have a little problem

Queensway is 417 is it not?  So limit would be 100km/h

My bad! I thought you were referring to "The Queensway" as in the road in Toronto. There it would be 60km/h. Highway 417 is 100 I believe.

Maybe GPS can be reprogrammed to keep right except to pass?
