I drove a Hummer H2 for the day.....
« on: April 12, 2010, 09:05:19 pm »
...and it was awful... ::)

On Friday, I went to get my windows tinted on my IS350.  My friend (the Porsche TT/Cadillac guy) was the tinter, so he said I could use his truck while my car was being tinted.  I thought I'd get the Escalade...but no, instead I was "treated" to his gigantic H2 (rolling on chrome 24" wheels..YO!)

Needless to say , this thing is just silly.  Silly big, silly fuel consumption, silly cheap interior with silly ergonomics.  It rode like a lumber-wagon (ok...not THAT bad...but not very good).  It was hard to judge at times whether I was in my own lane.  Parking in a parking lot was out of the question.  This thing was just HUGE.  All interior plastics were soooo hard.  Worse than any recent entry level car, and this was the luxury H2 (leather, power everything, etc..).  Just cruising around, taking it easy, I managed 23.7L/100kms for the day!!  Yes...you read that right.

So all in all a craptastic ride. Just thought I would pass this along.  I generally don't post about all the neat/odd/weird cars I get to drive since there's so many...but this is one I had to post about because it was so over-the-top (and bad).

I don't see why anyone would buy one of these POS....

I know 5 H2 owners in my town, they are customers of mine. There is also lotsa Harley Davidson Edition Ford trucks around, Escalates are very normal. $100,000 trucks are not unheard of around here.

SOme people just have money and don't know what to do with them.

From my experience, the Camaro's interior manages to have more plastics than the Hummer's. At least the dash on the behemoth is of the soft plastic kind, instead of the hard plastic all over the Camaro...

The H2 is indeed an awkward car to drive, too big on the outside yet cramped on the inside. Windows are too small too.

 :iagree: Ultra macho design (fail) with an illogical interior that was pinned on a frankenstein chassis from GM's trucks parts bin.

"The H2's final frame assembly is made up of 3 sections: The front uses a modified GM 2500-Series utility frame, the mid-section is all new and is completely boxed, and the rear section uses a modified GM 1500-Series frame which is upgraded for the 8,600 pounds (3,900 kg) gross vehicle weight."

Those heavy chromed 20" didn't help things and I'm going to assume that the brakes are untouched.   :thumbdown:
