Pricing for detailing
« on: April 12, 2010, 07:05:53 pm »
Hi;

I am interested in having my vehicles cleaned, waxed, shampooed, etc ... No time to do them myself, even though it is one of my favorite things to do on Sunny Sundays.

So I am looking at full detailing, inside and out, power polish on a 20 year vehicle with red paint.

It basically comes down to how much you want to pay and how bad the paint is.  If the paint has lots of swirls, expect 6-10 hours to correct it.  How bad is the interior?  Is it leather?  It really depends on the condition.  But to do a show quality in and out, $500 or more isn't out of the question.

Listen...I suggest you do the leather yourself and save a bundle.  Leatherique is the way to go.  Put the stuff on, and let the car bake in the sun for a day.  Then remove it with the conditioner.  It's absolutely amazing stuff, and it will look brand new!

I'd do it for you if you were closer.

Detailing prices can vary quite significantly from place to place, however like everything else in life, you get what you pay for.

A full detail typically includes wash/dry, claybar, polish via machine (single or multi step depending on paint condition), and paint protection (synthetic polymer sealant or carnuba wax....or both).  Most of the time spent by a detailer is in the paint correction process.  If the paint condition is severe, correction can be a cumbersome and timely process.  If you are looking for a full exterior detail, and want the job done by a true professional, expect to pay a bare minimum of $300 and and likely a fair bit more if your paint condition is severe.  If you happen to be in the NB area I'd be more than happy to do it for you!!   ;D

2 cars are getting done.

$150 each for complete interior detailing, external polish, tire care, etc, ...  $250 extra for the power polish on the E30. Total is: $150+$150+$250=$550. Cash.

Thanks for all the info above. Gonna do the leathers later this summer myself.
