100 bucks a refill @ 1/4 empty tank drains the mind of happy thoughts .... momentarily.

The new F150 is a BIG truck.  I wouldn't even consider the 4.6.  I don't know what the horsepower numbers are for the 4.6, but we have a couple 4.8 Chev's (285hp) here at work and they are anemic.  Some reviewers even say that the 5.4 is a bit weak.  I'd go for the 5.4, no question.

Wow.  The first truck I ever bought was a 97 Dodge Ram with a 318 in it.  It made 235 hp and 300 ft/lbs of torque.  At the time, I never noticed that it was 'anemic'.

Today though, when your average full size truck is making at least 300 hp, I can see how that old pushrod 318 would be considered archaic.

It's funny how perceptions change over time.  That Ram had more than enough engine for the time.  Now, the car companies have told us that we need higher horsepower numbers.  I'm just saying.....

The new 4.6 24v V8 engine will make gobs more power than the present one, AND be more fuel efficient.  Might be worth waiting for.

My Dad had a 92 Dodge Ram Regular Cab with a 318, 235hp.  It felt quick in a straight line, quicker than the 4.8 Chevs we have at work from what I remember.  The main reason is because of weight.  The trucks of today dwarf the trucks of the 90's.  The Chev's at work would be pushing 5500lbs, and I would guess my Dads Ram was less than 4000lbs.
