Dodge Caliber
« on: April 05, 2010, 06:37:07 pm »
Here is my brother Dodge Caliber. He has given it to me for a month to see if I want to swap my Focus for it after he's driven my car for a month. He's had about year. Only done 23,000 and he's not keen on it. So I said I give it go. Before he sells it. It's 08 too. Believe it or not it's Orange. Not red. It's an SXT. I don't mind the CVT either. Very cheap looking hard plastic lot less garish than the Focus but the focus feels better.  I'm not keen on the head rest either. They seem to get in the way. The stereo is decent. Which is a surprise. Strange it doesn't have a locking filler cap. It has power locks. mirrors yet no locking filler cap. Oh well tomorrow I'm going to Windsor house hunting. I see what it like after a days driving.

Not really my cup of tea but it looks in good condition.

Exact same thing happened to my friend James who works for Chrysler.  Had it less than a year and desperately wanted to be rid of it.  Didn't like it.  Hopefully it suits you.  My dad's wife has one and she seems to like it...
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

CAR magazine said:

Verdict
For:  It's different from your usual Golf-class hatchback fodder
Against:  Different doesn't equal better
Verdict:  Stand-out looks, indifferent substance

Nor mind either But I have always like Dodges styling the most out of NA car. This is not the sort of car I'd buy brand new. Used if was cheap perhaps. This is a year newer and almost nothing on the clock and worth a few quid more. It's not bad when you compare to the MK2 NA focus. It more comfy too. feels a little more solid. Makes less noise than a MK8 Civic. The CVT is silent. Does rumble a little the engine when you gun it. Not had chance on the highway that is when I know what the car is really like. I can't see why people complain so much about the CVT. It's smooth. The MK8 Civic whines the most out any car I had in first gear. More than the Focus.

Didn't like it.  Hopefully it suits

This or a focus...Ummm....I don't mind so far. It is starting to look less orange too.

Wow you'd think they'd make it easy to open the boot and bonnet. No manuals with this car.

It doesn't have the coolers either. Disappointed. Unless you press a button somewhere.....Not that I need that option...Oh wait you need the AC on. OK.

After one day driving some 300 odd miles. 6 disappointing house hunting in Windsor. This Canadian city feels very American. I found Windsor almost like a ghost town in parts. However The people are so so nice. Friendliest people I have met in Canada in fact. Really like the city overall b/c of the people and I love that big American City just a stone throw away. It is like living there almost.

My brother loves the Focus. He wants to hold it for another week to make sure. So he's going to trade the Caliber for a new Focus or a Fiesta. I told him to wait on the Focus.

Well The Dodge Caliber how do say I found really cheap. The plastics were poorly finished for instants in the middle of the steering wheel the plastic that houses the air bag the cover has massive gap you can fit you finger in it. It's also very hard plastic on the door and center arm rest. so there's nowhere to rest your arms. well there is but hurts after a while. Fuel economy was a good not much in it really between the Focus or the Civic. Handle really nice too. Very simple and easy car to drive and moderate speed. Very very simple. In fact it would make a great learner car. Excellent all round vision. The seats is where I had the most issue. It made my feet feel on the verge of pins and needles once my foot rest on the accelerator pedal for a period of time. Also the Caliber thump over bumps. The engine is quiet and has enough power without being exciting to keep up with every day traffic. I also Really like the CVT. As long as you never gun it. But it's no...Where's me Focus....LOL

OK Thanks. I shall bear that in mind.  :)

BTW only looking really in Riverside. South Walkerville. West is right off. South Windsor is too expensive. Also avoiding close to downtown and the casino as well as Sandwich town.
