The new to me Land Rover LR3 HSE
« on: March 27, 2010, 03:44:46 pm »
I finally snapped some new pics of the new ride. It's dirty but it's going to be that way 99% of the time. It is so much taller than the Volvo, they make an odd couple.

Thats what I am doing. Surprisingly this vehicle has only had one issue in the 4 year 100k kms of its life so far. The owner was an acquaintance
of a family member and was the original owner.  I was also able to review the service history. Outside of a 1/2 hour visit to reflash the suspension setting module it hasn't had any troubles. Only visits were reg. scheduled maintenence. I had the truck inspected at a local independant Rover shop and it came out with a clean bill of health outside of the front tie rods (had a little play and needs to be looked at in the next couple years.)

Why the LR3? I was looking at Toyata Land Cruisers south of the border as well as Lexus LX470's. Even in the states a good condition 2006 was going to run me near $40k Cdn landed on my driveway. I landed the Lr3 for $22 750 (no GST  private sale) plus a second set of winter tires/wheels that are 95%. 17$ K buys a lot of pain...

Nice score and I wish you trouble-free ownership.

Will you be getting a Jaguar or Aston of some sort next, to continue the streak of formerly Ford controlled companies?  :P

I thought the price was $22K? ... Just kidding, don't think the LR3 is anywhere close to the likes of Discovery 2.

It was $22k. Likely what the dealer was offering as trade in price. Either way, a good price for the vehicle although I don't know the mileage on it.

It was. The $17k is what I would have had to add to get to a Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX470 of similar condition. They were near $40k used.

Those units look they have some room inside the guts to work around so that should make repairs less daunting.  Like all exotic/euro cars if you can live without the AC when it facks up you are golden.

Hats off to you; it's a bold choice.
