2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6
« on: March 17, 2010, 03:01:00 pm »
Hi, just wanted to ask if the 3.0L V6 in the Fusion has a timing chain or belt in it; and when does it need to be changed if at all, (what mileage)?

What does everyone think of these cars? I found one with 165,000km on it for $8500.00.

Thanks
Cars are super fun to waist $ on!

Avoid.  Way too much mileage.

Sounds like a good deal. Well made car. Drive nicely also. You could do a lot worse than that!

Fusion engines have timing chain
Ford Fusion is a decent choice for a used family sedan offers excellent handling and good road feel. I would suggest looking for lower kms maybe in 80,000-100,000 area. Might be worth shopping around for lower mileage and even if the asking price is little higher, make a reasonable offer you might get lucky. Not sure how the used market is in Ontario  at this time but it always nice to get a lower mileage car for the same amount you are looking to spend.

That said if you are keen on the one you described above make sure you check the used car history records, check the service records if available to verify that the car was properly maintained.  Make sure to test the air conditioner operation & have the car inspected by a mechanic of your choice.Properly maintained this car will be a good choice it is good value for the money.
