Holy :censor: that's expensive.  Man my insurance has never been that bad, even from when I was 18.

I remember that 3rd party only on my Mk1 sprite was 30GBP a year when I was 21.  :o ;D

It's part of the joy of living in Toronto.  ::) Move out of the city and premiums drop dramatically.

Any beginners bikes that I should look for in particular?

Get one that you are comfortable sitting on.

Anything over 500 cc will be good enough for highway use. I drove a 350 single to Wisconsin. HP isn't the be all and end all. I saw more on my 45 HP BMW than 99% of riders on their fancy machinery.

Call your insurance company before making a final decision. Rates for new riders are way up there and it depends on the bike. Also call various insurance companies...their rates can vary by a lot.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Maybe this will help...

My $18,750 plus accessories BMW R1150 GS Adventure runs me about $525 a year.

Glad I don't live in Toronto, and not just for the insurance reason.

Thanks for that. I'll look into it.

The great news is that StateFarm wants me to pay the premium UPFRONT!  :rofl2:  :rofl2:

Day 1 M1 Exit Course:

Wow, where should I start. There are about 12-14 people in my group, and about 6-7 (great) instructors. The bad boys are CBRs 125, brand new, put about 35km on them the first day (in a parking lot!).

Fun fun fun! Those little bikes are peppy and so easy to handle. I love it, I really really do. I think I made the right choice here.

Did you learn wheelies or stoppies on the first day?  We did wheelies, as stoppies were called "crashing" when I learned to ride.

 ;D
No place I'd rather be...

No such luck unfortunately. ;D Maybe tomorrow. It's a light bike, but is it even possible to pull a wheelie with a 10hp engine?

Thanks. Judging by the cars you've had in the past, I reckon you'd love it.
