Either that or get out the cell phone, call the police, wait for them to find you on the freeway and pull by your side, lower your window, and wait for their instructions....

Shifting to neutral was covered in the basic driver's ed course I took in Quebec.  My driving instructor didn't say that I have to curse like crazy when the car is out of control though.  Learned something new every day.   :)
