Worned out rear tires on Suzuki Aerio
« on: March 10, 2010, 10:00:19 am »
My Dad has weird problem on his Suzuki Aerio GSX 2002 FWD. Rear tires are worned out in a weird way - not on inside or outside but all over. It looks like wheels are not straight and car is dragging them. I will try to make pictures later this week.
It is strange that front ones are OK and the rear ones have problem (on FWD car).
He checks tire pressure religiously and will do alignment.

Any other ideas on why it can be happening?

Worn suspension bits, a bent wheel...?

A look around this Suzuki forum might be helpful.

Weird, I've never hear of it, although the 4 wheel drive cars had some sort of alignment problems, causing excessive tire wear.

You might ask here: http://www.aeriostyle.com/forum/
Just put the steering wheel in the DOWN position and the drive feels much better - watz up with that??

Bad shocks can lead to tire cupping, that is patches of worn rubber on tread area, equally an unbalanced tire. but both rears! strange, unbalance tire should cause vibrations whereas bad shock is just excessive bouncing (going bad may go unnoticed over time).

There's a TSB about it for your car, but I couldn't find one for the 2002 Aerio

2004 Suzuki Aerio S Fwd 4dr Sedan (2.3L 4cyl 4A)
Summary:
ABNORMAL REAR TIRE WEAR. ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10018529 )

My car occasionally also has abnormal rear tire wear.

I've never had a problem, but I'll ask my mechanic to look out for it when he changes the tires in April. :)
