Topic: Summer or all-season tires

I will need new tires soon. I already have winters so that's not a concern.

Should I get summer tires or all-season tires? I've heard summer tires do wear out quicker than all-seasons. I do monitor my pressure once a week and adjust as needed and do rotations, etc.

Is there a huge difference between summer tires and all-season tires?

On your car I'd buy All seasons for summer.   I had real summers on my 330 but the GTI came with All-seasons and as I also have winters they'll be there for a year or two yet.

Depends - if you have a performace vehicle, I would go summers, as you have winters already. If your vehicle is more "regular transportation", go either one, and All-Seasons would be fine.

I'd go with all-seasons for the Grand Prix.  Summer only tires will handle better at high speeds and corner better but will lack traction on wet roads.  Also summer tires don't always have a mileage warranty and most likey won't last as long as a all season tire.  I'd go for a "Performance All-Season" tire.

I forgot to mention that I'm currently using Good Year Triple Tred.

Why not get performance all seasons?

I think you should pick tires that meet your driving demands/conditions. Do you want wet traction as a priority? Is grip your biggest concern? Do you want a tire that will last 80,000+kms.  Things like that.

Rain traction is my biggest concern, decent tread life is also important. I'll see what's out there.

It's hard to beat the TripleTred as an all-season, middle of the road value.  How do you like yours? 

Some friends have put on Goodyear Eagle Response Edge  http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Eagle+ResponsEdge and liked them as a bit of a handling upgrade value without going to a full-summer high performance tire.
If you want a tire good in the rain, look for silica as well as tread pattern.

I would go UHP all seasons.  The shoulder seasons are the worst, the month before the switch to winters and the month after. Unexpected cold/snow . In Calgary I have thought that three sets are required. Snow - shoulder season all seasons -  dedicated summers. The wife said no.

Cooper CS4 Touring would be a nice tire for your car and you can get in in T,H, and V speed rating.  It also has silica in the tread for improved Traction.
For Ultimate Traction you could go with a Nokian WRG2.  This is a "All-Weather" tire that can be used year around.  They are a litttle pricey though.

I've heard of the Nokian "all-weather" tire and I know you can use it as a winter tire, however... I'm convinced a dedicated winter tire works better and I already have it.
