« on: March 02, 2010, 10:26:18 pm »

James takes the wheel of the closest thing to a street-legal go-kart, a Mini Cooper S. This one comes in Mini's new Camden trim, one of two option packages that commemorate the brand's 50th anniversary.

Rather have the traditional tach & speedo in front of the driver. Don't really mind the interior trim in the shown car.

It's not so much the placement..it's the cartoony appearance to me...

The interior is fine, typical MINI. What are you smokin', rr? It is a pricey beast in special trim tho.

My wife certainly loves her S convertible so far. I'm not a huge fan of the dash but it has been growing on me. I do,however, love the way it drives. (When she lets me use it ;D)

Thank you rrocket ..... equal those comments!!!
That interior is just plain "gag me with a rubber chicken" c@#p!!
Waaay too busy as well.
But otherwise the car is superb on the outside and the performance...well....it speaks volumes (the exhaust note too).

I think Wing is at his "happy" place here...it's like giving him a loaded gun.....like Dirty Harry's .44 magnum no less.    ;)

Have never seen a FWD go cart myself... This thing is nowhere near a go-cart, I would think a Lotus Exige or KTM Cross Bow would be called that.

I'm assuming the black and white leather interior is a nod to the Camden cows?

Getting weary of these gushing Mini reviews... I've driven a buddy's Cooper S a few times and have to say this is one of the most overhyped cars out there. Sure it's fun, but far from great. Throttle lag, artificial steering and a rock hard ride.

Sounds like I'd be going after "Mission Control" with a pair of wire cutters after about 3 days! I like Mini's but sometimes they try too hard to be cute. ::)

edit

BTW James....If Monday was Day 1 shouldn't we be to Day 4 by now?

Mission Control can be turned off in the head unit... I agree, it's nothing more than a novelty.

James, did you know the cargo shelf fits perfectly between the two halves of the seats when you fold the seats flat? Or, you can insert it vertically right in front of the rear seat. They've shaped it to fit perfectly, which I think is quite clever... While I've stuffed my car with a suprising amount of stuff on several occasions, every cubic inch counts in this car!
