Everything new is costly
Who remembers when calculated that was was over $100 back in '72 same one would cost $5

I don't know if I'm dorky enough to ride one of those. I'm certainly not dorky enough to afford one. Still it's got potential in big cities like New York, rich university Campus's like Harvard. If they could lower the cost, make it look cooler, and keep it portable... they could do a lot of business with that.

Looks as if braking hard enough to avoid a crash would send the rider rocketing head-first into the traffic. Riding it would creep me out completely, and that's not even counting the disturbing dork factor.

Looks like it needs smooth roads.  Not going to survive pot hole Montreal.  :)

Ya, I yike not crashing.

The short wheel base makes it look very difficult to balance.
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

C'mon....a coordinated guy like you?  If you can fly a plane, you can ride a bike, right?    ;)

Do think it is rather cool. But too pricey.

My instructor buddy will tell you most pilots are NOT coordinated...they land crooked all the time...and it pounds the nose-wheel to heck.  If they were flying tail-draggers, they would've spun their planes many times by now.

It's tough man....

Here's some coordinated chat in turns - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAzoEEc36Ms

Here's one that shows how much left and right movement an airplane can make close to the ground.  The funky part (for me!) is that the combination of yoke AND the rudder control direction...gotta love 3 dimensions folks!

Segways are cooler.

In a world where the dead are returning to life, the word "trouble" loses much of its meaning.

You, of course, are kidding about the Segway!

As for the YikeBike, well, I really like the YikeBike.  It's too expensive, but hopefully that will change.  Some things from the FAQ...

The YikeBike is electronically limited to 25 kph.  We'll need a hack for that ASAP.

The YikeBike can comfortably take a rider (and personal effects) weighing up to 100kg.  Sorry, no sales in the US, and a shrinking market (punny, huh?) in the UK, Aus and Canada.

No place I'd rather be...

What's wrong with a Segway?  If I didn't have to drop the kids off I'd ride one to work.

Gob from arrested development and the segway have given me so much joy, so yes the segway is cooler. It is also too expensive but in the US you preety much see them everywhere, heck San Fran has Segway tours of the city. The yiki bike seems like a neet concept but can you seriously see people taking them to work? Seriously!
Only time will tell.
