As for best handling FWD, the Mazda Protege MP3 and Mazdaspeed Protege were highly regarded though often overlooked.

The MP3 is something else, ... just in need of a slight better engine, like the 1.8L from Honda.
Wish I had the opportunity to test drive one.
The Turbo version replacement, good but not as special as the MP3.

Totally agree. It's like Mazda tried too hard with the MSP and made it too stiff for every day use. By all accounts the MP3 had the perfect balance.
