"Deep said drive shafts that use the component primarily power the front wheels of Ford vehicles, while similar parts power the rear wheels and provide more torque in Toyota and Nissan models.
Deep also said the Ford vehicles with the same part are car-based sport utility vehicles, lighter and less likely to shift into four-wheel drive.
Dana Corp., which supplies the propeller shaft parts to the three automakers, informed the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration last week about a possible defect or cracks in the part in a small number of vehicles."
Sounds like enough of a different application in the Ford vehicles that it might not pose a problem. I'm sure if they start flying apart on Fords they will be quick to act as there is little doubt this would be under close scrutiny.
