Geneva Preview: Redesigned Toyota RAV4 leaks out
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/02/15/geneva-preview-redesigned-toyota-rav4-leaks-out/

Joining the FT-86 Concept, redesigned Auris and Prius plug-in hybrid at this year's Geneva Motor Show will be a facelifted version of the Euro-spec RAV4, and if it looks oddly familiar, that's because it's a subtle variation of the JDM Vanguard, a long-wheelbase version of the cute 'ute.

Early reports indicate that the interior will be restyled to up the luxury ante and the 2.0-liter gasoline-powered four-cylinder will be tweaked to increase fuel efficiency and decrease C02 emissions. The redesigned front fascia benefits from a new grille, more angular, drawn headlamps, foglight surrounds and a sporty front lip. We'll have more details on the 2010 RAV4 in two week's time and don't be surprised to see the new nose making an appearance on North American models later this year.

Better but there's something VW-ish about it.

Much better than the outgoing RAV4, but it definitely resembles the Tiguan doesn't it?

Exterior isn't really where the problem was with the current RAV4, it's the terrible interior. Let's hope they spent most of their time working on that!

If these pictures are true (not the JDM Toyota Vanguard photoshop) It looks a bit better on the outside although nothing striking, but the big thing is if they will get rid of the rear swing door and update the interior design. I'm not setting high expectations on the interior since it's a Toyota after all, but the swing door would be the biggest thing though. A little more ground clearance and a better AWD would be good too.

BTW: I believe this face was on the JDM Vanguard for some time now and most likely before the Tiguan came out.

^  Could not agree more regarding the rear swinging door, that really NEEDS to go (along with the spare tire)!    Roll Eyes

Not bbad lookin', but can I trust the reliability? Probably not! I own a '03 RAV4 and I have nothing but trouble with it ( blowin' wheel bearings on a regular basis ), and because of this, I know I will NEVER buy a Toyota product again. My previous CRV was a way better vehicle. Huh

This looks like a mid-cycle facelift not an all-new model. I know, based on the usual 5-year cycle, it should be a full redesign for 2011, but it doesn't look that way.

I am thinking Toyota hasn't made a lot of money lately so a redesign is probably on the back burners. Spending a lot of$ solving and correcting their recent problems.

Does resemble Tiguan with it being shorter than ours and having more similar headlight and foglight housing treatment.

I'd be surprised to see this facelifted RAV4 for North America. Was recently given a touch-up last year, wasn't it? Seems not so long ago many of us were shunning the redesign on the forum for having grown so much larger than its' predecessor.

The current issues shouldn't be a factor here as the redesign usually starts 3-4 years in advance and at that time Toyota was at the top of its game.

With Woodstock plant opened only last year, would they not want to keep it model the same for a couple of years before changing things on the line?

Looks good. The current Rav4 looks great also, but I don't like the interior, or the rear swing door.

I'm actually one of the few ones liking the rear swing door  (if not equipped with one, we need a power liftgate and that pushes the entry price quite a bit if you make exception of the Equinox).

If Toyota would address the crappy interior, leave the V6 alone (it's great -don't mess with it), add a 6 speed auto and a few new features and it would make it to the top of our list!  Grin
