Great choice can't go wrong with element. It's fairly proven. Having own Honda they just something about the Vtec that oh so sweet. A bit of a sleeper. But with a quick kick down they bust into life. I have always like element from day one. Plus you can go away for weekend and just park up anywhere and spend the night. :)

What's that green stuff on the lawn?

We call it "grass," but you Canadians can call it "freedom snow"  ;D

 :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

Nice car! And hey, if James May likes it, that's enough for me!  :rofl2:

I like the way the dash is traditional, that's the one thing that stopped my buying a Civic, I just can't deal with the strange 2 tier dash layout.  Love the utilitarian interior, great for kids!

I loved the interior of the Element, being able to fit big stuff inside.  Hose-out looks great too.

A couple things killed it for us, though.  One is the lack of five seats.  I frequently carry three kids in the back, and five seats is a knock out for us.  Two is the high price relative to other AWD CUV type vehicles.  How can the Element be priced so competitively in the US, but not in Canada?

Things I really like:

Four cylinder economy
Honda build quality
Quirky styling
Square interior with tons of space
Rubber floor interior

Things I'm so-so on:

The suicide rear doors that only open with the fronts.
Honda's slip and grip AWD system

Things I don't like:

No way to seat five
$35K AWD model price
No place I'd rather be...

Yeah, I love how it's got this timeless, classy dash.  I would much rather that a car get wild and crazy on the outside and stay classy and relatively conservative on the inside than go nuts both places.  "Wild" interiors quickly just look "tacky" in my opinion.  They rarely age well.

For example, here in the States, the Element's closest competitor might be the second-gen Scion xB.  The outside is similarly funky and big and boxy:

But I could never live with the Scion's dash long-term:

"Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder. What unites us is far greater than what divides us." -- John F. Kennedy, addressing Canadian Parliament.

I don't mind the lack of the fifth seat.  Personally, I almost never use it, and the upside of the lack of the fifth seat is that the two rear seats aren't smack-dab against the wall of the vehicle.  The extra six inches or so between the vehicle's wall and my kids is an extra buffer of safety in a side impact.  Not as good as a child riding in the rear center seat, but the same idea.

Congrats on the new chariot Mits and Mrs. Mits.  :)

I've always liked the Element and it's still on my top 10 list of favourite vehicles.   Now if only they had made my dream Element combo (the original Lego styling with the unpainted quarter panels, manual and AWD) then I would have bought that.  Sadly I've never seen that particular combo.

Interior roominess is fantastic, no doubt about it.

Still, at Canadian prices it's a hard pill to swallow.  At US prices it's an excellent value.
