I am  surprised (somewhat - they are broke!) that GM, would not have tested the Pontiac Vibe (and also, on an on going basis) and possibly 'found' the Corolla/Matrix problems, that Toyota, didn't 'find' in their testing - NUMMI was a joint venture  Is the Toyota situation a result of the new ownershio (Government Motors) and patriotism?  Are the minority owners less careing of 'their' customers?  I question the actual testing, done by professionals, that fail to discover problems 'found' by 'normal' drivers!  Quality, is important.
