Too late .... it hasn't been as widely publisized but this problem has already claimed a life, a child in fact, in south africa. The funny thing here is the Honda problem has occured more often (and is comparitively more likely to happen) than the defect in the Toyota. But... you haven't seen quite the rush to condemn Hondas wrongs that you did Toyota (possibly because the one reported death didn't happen in the US). The scary thing is again it is surfacing that Honda knew of this problem long ago and did nothing. This has scared my wife so badly (we own one which she drives every day often with our 16mos old daughter) that she refuses to drive it until its fixed (she already had an incident where the window controls got wet (rain) and ceased to function for a few hours). I was willing to overlook the fact that the gas tank in this car is located under the drivers seat. I was also willing to overlook the 14" wheels reduced quality tires and smaller brake pads (because its a honda really how bad could it be?) I am not willing to overlook their neglegence in creating a potential fire trap. Honda you have lost us forever.
Because of a one in a million chance of a fire happening, if you're careless enough to drive around in the rain with the windows wide open?
That's a bit extreme, no?
And LOL at "smaller brake pads". It's a small car, bud...
