Second opinion: 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour AWD
« on: January 29, 2010, 04:03:22 am »

Honda’s latest offering, the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour, while aimed at empty nesters and upwardly mobile young executives, may in fact have something for everyone.

Why not Honda just import the JDM version of Accord wagon? It looks tons better than the crosstour here. and I guess it can fit the V6 just like the TSX does.

Honda is targeting empty-nesters with this vehicle.  I think that's the perfect demographic since people's vision usually begins to decline after 50.   ;)

Again, Honda answers a question nobody asked.  ??? It's so difficult being a Honda advocate these days.
If I owned a Crosstour, and someone asked me what I drove, I'd need to apologetically reply, "That Honda out front is mine."  :-[ and wait for the assault of negative comments to begin.

Honda, please give Honda fans something to cheer about for a change!!  ::) You're killing us!   :'(

Agreed 100%.  But Honda would rather import it as an Acura so they can charge almost double.  Look at the TSX which is essentially the Euro Accord.  But we get to pay 40K if we want it.  What a privilege.

My second opinion on the Crosstour...sadly still so ugly  ;)...and I've got 2 Hondas in the garage.   If only one could have the Crosstour interior with a Venza exterior.
Internal combustion thrust I trust

Sounds like the beginning of a Stephen King story.

I find the Venza exterior nicely chiseled in a chunky ass kinda way  :P, as for the Crosstour interior, I'm a sucker for Honda switchgear... ;D

First opinion on the Crosstour: ugly, oversized and overpriced.

Second opinion: absolutely hideous, and proof that Honda has lost its way.

Isn't "ugly"[first opinion] and"absolutely hideous" [second opinion] the same thing?  ???
Nothing new to add here. ::)

I think I'm in the minority that actually rather doesn't mind the looks of this thing. Judging by the numbers of Venzas I see, Honda will do well with this...

Though I also wonder why there's no lower-priced, four cylinder version available. I think they'll be giving up sales to Toyota without that option.

I can see an aftermarket kit to make this 'Ture a proper wagon, like the Ridgeline.

I still can't quite figure out what Honda and Acura designers are smoking these days when designing the latest Acura TL's , ACUra ZVX , Honda Crossovers and Accord models.........I've never seen uglier models. I've had Accords, I own a beautiful classical   2005 TL 6M completely equipped. I test drove this car while on my way to buy a BMW 3 series manual and opted for the TL....I'm in  the process of changing again and will definitely t  not buy A Honda/Acura model again.  Perhaps Honda should start taking a few hints from Audi/BMW/Lexus/Infinity   when making design changes....or  lay off the smoking !

When all the world is going to simple designs ,  economical,  lighter engines and models, Honda has opted  for the opposite.... heavier , bigger, what a pitty !!
Good luck, I certainly will not  follow

I don't know that you can take much comfort from the Venza success.  It is a fairly conventional looking tall wagon.  Prospective buyers can look at it and understand what it is without being spoon-fed a lot of advertising crap trying to explain the inexplicable.  The Crosstour looks like some kind of automotive circus freak on wheels.  It's time for Honda to admit that this whole "automotive-design-on-weed" experiment isn't working out very well.

Or maybe they have quite literally employed their "crack design team".

The styling is not any more horrible than the Porsche Panamera.  But I guess since the Porsche has 500HP, people are willing to overlook the disastrous styling.

FWIW I think the Honda looks better (barely) than the Porsche

Everyone comments on how ugly the Panamera is.  Some may ultimately forgive that fault because it offers something really groundbreaking--a proper Porsche sport sedan that is amazing to drive (from what I've read and seen)--but its ugliness is not ignored.

The CrossTour is at least as ugly as the Panamera--more so in my opinion--and offers no advantage over either a Venza or an Outback as far as I can tell, while appearing to offer less usable cargo space than either.  As the other CrossTour review here noted:

Quote
For all of its attention-grabbing presence, the Crosstour doesn’t accomplish much that many crossovers costing $10,000 less can’t manage. That doesn’t stop me from liking it, though, in spite of its looks. Like I said, we all have our guilty pleasures, and this car is one of mine.

this thing is sooooo UGLYYYY. I just can't believe anyone would buy it - for 40 grand! right next to a Aztec, Element - and then this.

a Murano looks way better, even the Venza is decent looking compared to this ugly duckling. I get shivers driving past the dealership every morning and looking at it.
