Evil Twin's 2010 WRX
« on: January 27, 2010, 09:15:20 pm »
Here are a few quick shots of the new ride, 2010 Subaru WRX.  16" Sport Edition rims with Dunlop winter rubber mounted currently, and just got some 35% tints done.

Just point and shoot pics of the car.  I'll get some nice ones of the clean car at some point.

Good looking machine, Evil. Do you have the short shift kit already installed?

I hate to see that white crap they use on the streets down there all over your new ride...fortunately out here, that stuff in not used in town. Usually just sand around town but there is some greyish chemical they use on major hiways.

Congrats!

I like the look of those rims. For rubber, did you go with the performance Dunlop 3D or the ice & snow Graspics? Either way, should be a blast in the snow!

Looks good!  My god that looks hard to keep clean though.  :o

Love the tints also, makes it look meaner!  What are the Summer wheels, the grey coloured ones?

If you mean to do the driving, isn't the steering wheel on the wrong side for you??  Will you know what to do??  :stick:

LOL....All three cars at my house have sticks, how many at your house do? :stick:

Besides...all I've ever seen you do is scare the Amish....So does this mean with AWD you could scare them in the fields as well as on the roads??

To answer a bunch of questions:

- Winter tires are Dunlop Wintersport 3D 205/55-16.  I've got the stock 17" gunmetal wheel in my basement for summer duty.  Summer Tires are Dunlop Sport SP1s  (or something like that) 225 width.

- Short shift kit is installed and makes a big difference.  Throws are much shorter, but the stick height (as seen in the photos) is still a little tall.  I've got a nice Momo knob being shipped right now which should be slightly shorter and a nice weighty feel.

- Ontario salt definitely sucks.  Especially now in the subie, as I'd be happy to blaze down roads covered in 5cm of snow.

- The black looks great.  Of course it's difficult to keep looking clean, but I'm generally resigned to the fact that all cars look like sh!t through the ontario winter.  Just need to give it a bath whenever we get a thaw.  Plus, I don't mind a dirty WRX.  As Jeff said, it's 'ugly' to begin with...so who cares!

- Got some snow overnight and the drive into work was great.  Office parking lot is usually pretty empty around 7:45 so I gave it a huge powerslide to see if I could break traction.  No luck...the brand new winters just have too much grip right now.  It slid a bit, but nothing like the donuts I could lay down with the mustang with a slight tap of the gas and flick of the wheel

Very great machine.

I also have the Dunlop Wintersport 3D they are both good in the snow and ice and also have good dry traction under hight performance stress at low temps.
On Ice they don't seem to be as good as the Blizzacks WS-60 I had on my civic but that might be because the the SIR was a much lighter car. Plus the Blizzacks had a loose and rubbery feel.

Congrats looks good.

I don't really dig the white tailights, but fack that, the rest of the car can over compensate for that, eheheheh.

Agree that the white lights aren't exactly 'my style'.  But somehow they look better in person and not bad with the black.  A lot of people put on vinyl overlays or paint the lights....but I'm not so hot on either option.  Rather just leave em stock.
