2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:36:15 pm »
Hi.  I'm new here and my question is this...

I'm looking at buying a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe.  The asking price is $9,995 Mileage: 120,000 Engine: 2.7 and V6.  I will admit that I know nothing :-[ about buying used SUV's.   For the mileage, is this price a decent one?  I just went back to work full time so my budget is small!

Any suggestions are most welcome.
Thanks.

Any particular reason for an SUV?? Since your budget is small, why not going for a smaller car with a smaller engine? Fusion, Sonata, Accord, Camry, etc.

It's just a thought, if you really want an SUV then a Santa Fe should be a smart choice.

Sounds about right for the mileage (right were you would expect it to be on a 5 yr old SUV) keeping in mind that was the big engine for that model year that same V6 became the small engine on the launch of the new body style in 06.   Even though the money seems right, make sure you do a complete history on the car, CarFax or CarProof will do that for you and if the seller won't do it (pay for it) then that might be an indication of a problem...BTW..i'd offer $8500.00 ... best of luck!

Dealership or private sale?  If you really like it, do the Carfax/proof thing and have a licensed mechanic inspect it.

I'm looking at the SUV as I have a family of 4 and we just don't fit all our stuff in my Montana anymore.
I'm looking at the '05 Santa Fe thru a Dealer called mycaronline.com
My nephew is a licensed mechanic and I plan on dragging him with me!   ;)
I'm really liking the sound of this one but I'm hesitant because I've had bad luck in the past, buying a vehicle I know nothing about.  The Carfax thing is a great idea, thanks, I will check into that.

You can't fit everything in your Montana...but you think the Santa Fe is bigger???  ??? ???

The Santa Fe is DEFINITELY smaller...
