She'll love you more.

$10k on a 2003 Corolla ???

I hear you on the 10 grand for a Corolla Blur that is what is holding me back . My only worry about the Mini is the reliabity & it is a manual which she does not want. I need some thing  that hopefully  all she has to do is oil changes &  regular service work. Thanks for letting me know about the Sentra .

This one is right in Weyburn I have seen it . It looks good from what I have seen . I just thought that was to much cash.

Only problem it is a manual as well.

You get what you pay for.  Those models are bullet proof and that particular Corolla looks perfect: extend Toyota warranty, grandparents car from Vancouver, snows on alloys, obviously not cheap owners.

Motor and automatic in that car can go 400K km.  In 4 years that car will be worth 7K and you will not have put a dime into it other than the normal stuff.

Although it will probably get sold before you get there.

That is kinda what I was thinking Steve . The people have had a ton of people looking at the car but they don/t want to pay that kinda cash . He changed his ad last night to 10,500 firm & don't bother emailing a lower price.

That would be the best bet for her worry wise. We just have never leased . It just bothers me to have nothing after 3 yrs. I have considered buying the cheapest new car with air but that come out to over 12 grand.

Well that is the nature of Kijiji; ppl are wanting the buy of a life time.

I have been viewing Kijiji Owen Sound, Kitchener, Barrie, for sleds because we are in the middle of a serious melt and typically in the best of times February is the last month for snowmobiling.  So it's a sleding disaster at the present, however a great time to strike.  I have been watching the same guys drop week after week and I have been calling ppl and low balling.  That is the nature of Kijiji.  I always get a kick out of the ppl who say "firm".

However, in your case with this Corolla, these kind of offering don't come along very often, opposite of my sled searching situation, so firm probably means firm.  The nice thing for you is that if the ppl weren't holding to "firm", it would be gone already.

"top dollar" paid can only be assessed at the end of the ownership period.  Honestly, those Corollas are so frickin reliable.  If you're not one to stop everything and fix your daughters car in the garage when she comes home on the weekend then this car is for you.

What is your "sales tax" situation?  Is it on the honour system.  ;D  Bring cash or half cash and get a Bill of Sale for $5500.  That will help.  I have never had a private seller refuse a "reduced" Bill of Sale" amount and I have bought off every segment of society; cops, lawyers, what have you.

I'd go for it if all checks out.  Do a Car Proof just in case.  She will like the leather seats.  Big improvement over the cloth in that model.

What new car can you get ON THE ROAD with AC for 12K?

Leasing would be ridiculous waste of money.  Circumstances change.  When you're daughter finishes school what then?

That is what bothers me with leasing . If she is able to get into Medicine like she wants she will be at school a long time.
I was looking at a new saturn at the time it would have been over 12 taxes in.

I have done a vin search with SGI. There was no claims in Sask other than a windshield claim. I work in a registration office so the tax thing would not be a big deal as long as I reported a reasonable amount as the tax is payable as it came in from BC & the tax was not paid as it was sold to a relative.

If she is able to get into Medicine like she wants she will be at school a long time.

Perfect.  That Corolla will last the entire time.  Be the best vehicle deal you ever did.

For example on the Protege; it will rust out in 4 years, the clutch will go, and she'll be looking for something else half way thru just when the money is NOT there.

Go buy this Corolla NOW.  :D

Perfect.  So $5500 is reasonable.  Just write the Bill of Sale with "AS IS".  It's a meaningless phrase because all private to private car sales are implied "AS IS" written or not.  "AS IS" just gives anyone who is reviewing the amount the perception that the vehicle is not "MINT".  I have it in all my Bills of Sale.

You sure don't want to use the word "MINT".  :rofl2:
