X-trail...Reliable after 100000km?
« on: January 07, 2010, 12:47:29 pm »
Hey there!
Quick question to any X-trail owners.... Do you still have yours? I checked the forums and most of the posts are from a few years ago... How are they now that you've prob gone over the dreaded  100'km mark?
I would love to get one ( cheaper on fuel than the beloved Pathy ), but all the ones they have around here are in the $15000 range with just under 100'kms....Is it worth it? Do they have any bad problems  in the 100'kms?
I'm a single Mum, so I don't want to invest my hard earned money into a lemon....

Thoughts and suggestions welcome!!! ;D
Thanks!
:P :) If it can't be fixed with a case of beer, then I don't want it! :P :)

My wife's 06 just went over 100K last weekend, it has been reliable and vitrually trouble free, we had a rear bearing go around 70K, but that was fixed under warranty, other than that just standard maintenance and new tires.

Traded mine at 187,000, solid vehicle.  Great hauler, miss a lot for that.

Get the LE if at all possible. It's got more safety stuff like ESC than the other models. Prices are all over the place....varies up to $5K to $6K in BC. A couple of local dealers are asking $21-$22K each for a non-LE model. Ouch. In the lower mainland, they are in the $15-$17K range.

A friend of mine at the largest Nissan dealer in BC works as an advisor and he tells me the X Trail is one of the best products that Nissan makes, or sadly, made. They are a fine product. In my opinion the manual transmission model is much better than the automatic but that are hard to find. I would not hesitate to but a lightly used one.

I believe stability/traction control was not standard on the LE, but was an option.  I have no idea what proportion of LE's have the option, and the option was not offered for the cheaper versions.  I'm pretty sure that was the only "safety" difference between the models.

Too bad Nissan elected not to import the XTrail generation 2 to Canada.

Because of that, and the lack of a low range, the X-Trail became our second choice for a cuv.  Still like them, though.

IMO, version 2 would have been a hit, the less girly of all small SUV ;)  The instrument in the traditional spot, complete new interior, larger etc etc.

Hey, I think the Grand Vitara, with its off-road design bias and a low range, is the least powder-puffy cuv.

I own a 2005 X-Trail SE - Manual transmission.

I bought it with 87 KM and it now has 116km after 14 months of driving.

It has been bullet proof and very enjoyable and practical.

I would highly recommend it

BTW, it is still made and sold in most of the rest of the planet...

Our X-Trail with 94KM comes off lease in March.  It's  been a great sport cute, but not worth the buyout so we'll be moving on.  We had traded down from our Pathfinder, the best vehicle in a long line I have owned, but it was a pig on gas.  Our X-Trail got the job done, whether hauling stuff around town or taking skiis and boards on trips.  After nearly 100KM, we have only serviced the brakes front and back and changed oil and filter at regular intervals.
Stay thirsty my friends

Your also forgetting about the Ford Escape. You can pick them up pretty cheap. Fairly decent track record to boot.

Escape's are dirt cheap and later models are very well made.
No place I'd rather be...
