Quick impressions... The biggest surprise to me was the VW GTI. At first I chuckled at those "mattress" seats but when I got in it seemed almost like a chemistry with the machine. The sitting position was perfect, no matter how much I tampered with the seat; all the gauges laid out just right; somehow despite the car's dimensions it felt spacious and open inside; the dashboard, the one I called "so 80's" in another thread, was made of quality materials when looking up close and was put together flawlessly. So I think I may have caught a bug, a VW bug  :rofl2: If I didn't need a roomy car for work, I'd be seriously considering parting with my Sonata tomorrow.

I also did a quick comparo of 3 upscale cars on a budget, maybe for some day in future. The C250 I liked the least, likely because it had no room for my right leg; the 328i was good with nothing I'd want to add or take away; and finally the G37 (x) was truly amazing. It was the one I didn't want to get out of and I figured if one day I should get one, it will stay in the family for generations. I wish the trunk was a bit bigger, but apart from that it's a work of art.  :)

2011 Sonata? Flashy inside out, but there were obvious cost cutting measures.

She must be smart.   She's wearing flat shoes for standing all day.  Is the shot going into a your garage as a poster?  :)

Anyway, some more shots from the auto show.

Mustang

Chevy Volt

Shelby GR-1, love this car, Elliot has a toy one.

Shelby Daytona, one of my most favourite cars of all time.  I plan on building a replica one day, probably Factory Five based on an old mustang.  Just imagine rolling up the garage door early on a Summer morning and having one of these come rumbling out...

Me on a bike, Jeff made me do it!

NA Focus

Shelby Logo

Infiniti Concept

599XX - Listen to those downshifts.

A few of my shots below:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/15648817@N04/sets/72157623350289297/

A few good things about the show:

- The attention VW was getting - especially the GTI.  People of all ages were just all over it.  Men and women. Young and old.  I don't recall ever seeing the universal thumbs up this car was getting from everyone who looked at it.  I didn't think any different. Had that 'just right' feeling about it.  Like it a lot.
- Liked the BMW's as well.  The 328 I tried on again had that everything just right feel about it.  Really like it.  Hmm,, might be another BMW convert here.  Like it a bit better than GTI, probably because its a bit bigger.
- Like Dan above, i really liked the G37's as well.
- Kudos to Audi for having the R8 V10 open to sit in.  Very cool.
- Enjoyed seeing all the Shelby's as well.

Not so good:

- The Acura lineup. Awful.  Only car I remotely liked was the A-Spec TL.  $50 K though?  Not a chance.  Hello BMW.
- Lack of exotics to drool over.  No Rollers, no Porsche (other than what Pfaff was showing off).  Would love to see an Aston display.  I would go just to see that...

I was one of those people.  I sat in it and it just felt perfect in all aspects: the seats, the steering wheel, the shifter, everything about the car made you want to drive it.  Glad there wasn't a salesperson nearby offering to sell me one  ;)

All this car buying lately can be a bit addictive.  ;D

I'd love to have a reason to buy another Acura.  But I can't find one.

Love the Fiat 500.  I bought a miniature one when I was in Italy last year.  And some a couple of extremely small ancient 500's on the road still.  Cutest thing evar.

Here are the pics I took at the show last Saturday evening.

Thanks for the pics Careener.  I really like the Mazda 2.  Somehow, with the big "smile", she reminds me of the red car in "Cars" (the movie)

Same here... when I replace the TL next year, it won't be another Acura.
Maybe you can convince me to go BMW?   :D   Wouldn't have to try too hard...
