Without question, the worst car advertising EVER.  I love that it's averaging 1.5 stars though  ;D

Eerily reminiscent of Leonard Nimoy's "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins."  And that is NOT a good thing:

"Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners. And necessity has made us allies. Those whom nature hath so joined together, let no man put asunder. What unites us is far greater than what divides us." -- John F. Kennedy, addressing Canadian Parliament.

Too bad it isn't advertising.  ::)

I'm sorry that I didn't distinguish between (1) TV, magazine, or billboard spectacle meant to get people's attention about a new car, and (2) auto show spectacle meant to get people's attention about a new car.  ::)  Six of one, half-dozen of the other if you ask me.

Beyond lame.

Correct.  I would hazard a guess that potential Volt buyers might be computer users and surf the internet.  So what's a real ad?  A TV spot or a UTube spot.  Depends on what your watching at a given time.  How many million ppl surf the web at work in the USA everyday I wonder?

You give a kid a ton of unearned or undeserved money they will spend it accordingly.  This UTube vid demonstrates that point clearly.

FFS, the troll is splitting hairs on the difference between promotion and advertising.

Beyond lame.

Since a few here seem to think this is advertising (nothing could eb further from the truth) here are some equally lame "advertisements" for you to marvel at:

Wow, the only thing more shameful than GM using that as a product launch presentation is the event marketing team / agency that came up with that pathetic mess.  After spending nearly a decade busting my ass to please clients with far less interesting products for budgets a fraction of what GM spends, I can't believe some marketing "strategists" have the cajones to even present garbage like this.  (sigh)

Greg B., you've missed a fundamental point of difference between the launch presentation in the original post and the ones you linked to:  the Chevy Volt one is a silly song with dancers that have nothing to do with the car... and the car itself wasn't featured in its own launch.  The Toyota presentations each showcased a vehicle and had a speaker outlining key points in a presentation.

Well, as lame as the video is, it was just what someone not affiliated with GM captured and posted to youtube from the LA auto show.

There is precedent for this sort of dreck.  Just look at the Microsoft Store's "dance" moment when the employees all break into a dance leaving most customers rather bewildered:
