The SRX will hit the 4/80,000 warranty mark next Fall. While I still enjoy the car very much recent "in the shop" experiences have got me thinking that it might be a pain to own it past this point. It might make sense to sell it next spring/summer with a few months of bumper to bumper and 1 year+ powertrain left on it to maximise value.   So,that begs the question ....What's next?

I'm not really keen on the 2010 version SRX for a variety of reasons

Needs are still...

AWD

Decent cargo capacity....3 people and a lot of luggage on road trips....We recently flew out of a US airport about 5 hours away (don't get me started on Air Canada pricing!) and the SRX just barely held the bags without putting 1/2 the back seat down

Good rear seat comfort and legroom for an adult (we had a MB C class rental and my daughter felt pretty cramped)

Reasonable power (say 0-100 times of  8's or less) and good 80-120 passing performance

Decent handling and steering....more "carlike" (I'm not expecting a sport sedan but I really don't like a "van/SUV-like" ride)

Light towing ability

I'd either consider mainstream new or a highend CPO used at 1-2 years old

Black book on the SRX is 26,000-28,000 right now so I'm think something around 40-45K

Suggestions?

My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

HL has good rear seat room and the back end is square so it will hold more
Maybe Vera Cruz , good rear seat room , unsure about bag room as the back end is not square of
X5 is nice
Chevy, GMC. Acadia I find the rear seat is low to be comfortable in

Well, for example, the SRX has about 32 cu feet of cargo room rear seat up and 69 point-something with the seats down. It seems to be about the right size for my needs and i wouldn't want to go a whole lot smaller. I think the important cargo capacity number is "rear seats up" ....just about any wagon/CUV would be OK with the seats down

The HL has almost 1/3 more capacity (40-something cubic feet and over 90 with the seats down)....maybe too big a vehicle?

In terms of the Acadia and clones I think my "GM" ownership experience will be a one-time thing. ;)

I like the idea of a CPO X5 but in several reviews I've read it was faulted for being tight in terms of space.

A 3.6 Ltd Outback might fit the bill size/feature and power wise but I'm not sure I like the exterior looks.

maybe an XC70?   ...(the US site shows 72 cu ft but doesn't give the "behind the rear seats" number.) I like the looks and a friend has had good luck with an 07 V70.

Maybe I'm going to have to put 3 suitcases in the back of the SRX and go "testpacking" ;D

See my post above....although I may go and have a look just to see what they look like in person.

Toyota Sienna AWD with a towing package.  That's what you're describing.  :rofl2:

 :hurl:

I'm obviously not very good at describing things ;)

What I want is a fairly roomy AWD wagon-type vehicle with good power and handling and some luxury features. When I was test driving the last time I was turned off both the Vera Cruz and the CX-9 because I found them too big and somewhat "vanlike"

The price point should be around 40-45K+/- for either new or a 1-2 year old,low milage CPO used with extended warranty.

How big is a 5 series touring wagon? :)

The XC70 has far more cargo capacity than your SRX.

Really?....by the numbers I would have thought they are about the same or just a little bit bigger for the Volvo (about 3.6% bigger volume for the Volvo......the Volvo cargo floor looks to be wider)

Acura MDX? Not to mention that a RAV4 V6 Ltd, Outlander XLS and Forester XT Ltd would fit the profile, but perhaps they are too mainstream for you.

Was the Allroad an A4 or an A6?...(A4 is probably too small)

Actually, the more I'm thinking about it,the more I'm thinking I might want an AWD wagon rather than a CUV/SUV. Of Couse that may change once I start looking/test driving
