We are all making the mistake of thinking that "common sense" is common. I would seem to fit that conclusion, as I ended up "off road" last week when I slid through a snow plow burm into a field. I was on a service road to a jobsite and doing 40kph, crested the hill, saw the corner and tried to brake...ABS cut in immediately not allowing any braking, so off I went

. Determination from my companies incident report was "driving too fast for the road conditions"...they are right, if I was doing 20 or 30 I probably wouldn't have ended up in the field needing to be pulled out. I also should have replaced my "All Terrain M+S" tires with winter tires (done on Friday), either of these solutions would have probably kept me out of the field.

Just in case you are thinking "duh, idiot", there is still 1/4" or 5mm tread depth on the tires, they just have little traction on ice.
I made the mistake of thinking that I could make it one more season without having to spend $1600 on tires (35x12.5R17 not the cheapest size). We can all have a lapse in judgement from time to time. I'm just glad no one and nothing was hurt/damaged, just embarrasment and paperwork afterwards.
Back on topic, on behalf of the "Morons", I would like to thank you for putting up with our stupidity and helping us out...
