Love the comments on the Exige.

Glad to see they included the panel van.

That and

Plus, if you have the keys to an Exige, you should be out driving anyway, and a passenger is just added weight.

I vividly remember a first date in 2008... guy drove a Chrysler LX, if I'm not mistaken.  I don't really care (too much) what guys drive, but... the driver's seatback was broken, and he had this massive cinderblock holding it up from the back passenger footwell.  :rofl2:  All I could think about was this thing becoming a giant projectile if he ever had to come to a sudden stop, or got rear-ended.  He also had mismatched tires and rims, for some reason.  As shallow as this sounds, I just couldn't get past the idea that he didn't give a crap about his car.  It made me wonder about the other details of his life, in the same way you wonder about a poorly-maintained home that you are visiting as a buyer.  Big turnoff.

Having experienced 27 years of wedded bliss now, I'm not really an expert when it comes to dating.  However, a friend of mine that is quite successful with the opposite sex is quite conscious of his car.  He earns a decent living and is a really nice guy, but doesn't really care about what he drives, and sees it as transportation, nothing more.  But, he acknowledges that your car can say something about you.

So, his 13 year old Civic sedan is spotless when he goes on a date.  Really, spotless.  He keeps the interior looking like new, and I have to say, riding in this old Civic you do notice this.

Next, he keeps his home the same way.  When the relationship progresses to the point where she is coming to his place, she finds it not only tidy, but clean.  Really clean.

It works.

I'm surprised the Chrysler Sebring didn't make the list.

Yea, but some people don't give a flying f*** about cars.  It's an appliance. It ranks right up there with blenders and lawn tractors.  I know a couple of people who have POS cars, yet these wonderful, beautiful houses.  And while I have a nice place, I'd be just as content with a teeny shack...as long as I had a 6 car garage filled with cars.

But, he acknowledges that your car can say something about you.

My original point, exactly.  I don't care what it is.  Just take pride in your stuff, and take care of it.  I do.  That cinderblock kinda told me that we were not compatible.  Call me crazy.

Not crazy I suppose.  To each their own.  But I wouldn't necessarily say that someone with a POS car says something negative about them as a person.  That's a bit of a blanket statement.  Many people I know (myself included) always have had a "beater" car because we loved our other cars so much we didn't want to drive it in the winter (or it was unpractical to do so).

True that. You never know what's his other car.

Indeed.  I recall talking to a guy at a "Cruise Night" in Oakville a long time ago.  He was showing a Lamborghini Espada which really blew my mind (it was the first time I'd ever seen one in real life).  He also owned an early 80s Esprit as well.  I figured this guy must be a high-roller having a Lambo and Lotus, and asked him what his daily driver was.  He said, "a Geo Metro".  :o
