Cab companies buying your products makes them lousy?   ???

The Prius is an AMAZING taxi.  Incredible stop and go fuel economy, decent interior space, bullet proof build quality, and brakes that last 300K or more are just a few reasons to use a Prius for taxi duty.

I think they were arguing about fleet sales...

Nothing wrong with the Toyotas being rental cars or cabs as they make a lot of sense. It appears though that Steve argues about Toyota's and especially Camry fleet sales.

Fleet sales numbers are hard to find, but not impossible.  I found some for the first half of 2007.  Eight percent of Camries sold during that period were fleet sales.  Sixteen percent of Corollas sold during that period were fleet sales.  Interestingly, by taking fleet sales out of the occasion, the Corolla loses out to the Civic as the best-selling compact.  SOURCE.  These numbers are not insignificant, and contradict Steve's assertions about the lack of Toyota fleet sales.

On the other hand, those numbers don't touch the Ford Crown Victoria, which, between taxis and police cruisers, had nine fleet sales for every one retail sale.

I bet they even incresed over the past 1 1/2 years ... We all know that every single manufacturer had piles of cars sitting around about the same time last year and they would've done everything to unload them and also improve their grim sales numbers. Toyota was no exception.

Stevie seems to be heading down the path of demanding a Carfax report for any rental Camry you find... and even then he would discredit the results.  ::) ::) ::)

Yes, but you set him off with this thread. :o
