Does where a car is made matter to your purchasing decision?

Personally I am happy that my car was built in Japan, although I'm not sure how much it would sway my next purchasing decision where a car was built.

Would you still buy the make and model you were after if you found out it was built in a different country (i.e. one you considered had lower quality standards) from the brand HQ?

In fact does it even make a difference? Do manufacturers these days make sure all their cars are the same quality regardless of where they are produced?

I would say that where a vehicle is produced is still important, although less so than it has in the past due to increased use of robotics and quality control measures. If given the choice, I would take a japanese built honda or toyota over an american or canadian built one anyway. I'd also prefer to buy a car built from an older plant vs a new one (for a given company).

Origin of core development, and engineering makes a difference. In my experience country of origin plays a big part in giving the vehicle its culture, which is felt in the dynamics.
Point of assembly, in this day and age does not give me concern.

Not really.

Anyone can produce quality or junk. Its a matter of having a process and trained content workers.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.
