Now that I'm thinking about selling the car, guess I better finally post some pics.

I bought it new in '99, and have put 265,000 kms on it since. It's fairly stock, with just a few basic (and tasteful, IMHO) mods:

Suspension is lowered about 3/4" all around for better handling, but still remaining useful for a year-round daily driver. No oversized rims for bling, just the stock 15 inchers for summer, a set of 15" Acura OE rims for winter, and a set of 15" Konig Heliums with R-compounds for track days. Engine work is limited to intake/header/exhaust - all from Comptech, which is (was) among the best in the Honda biz - for a 15 HP gain according to Comptech's dyno. There's no garish 6" coffee can out the back, and the exhaust note has a nice, deep bark to it.

The driver's seat has been lowered about an inch, and I installed a roll bar - mostly as a solid place to anchor the shoulder belts for the 5-point harness. The stock belts stay in place, and the 5-point harness clips in and out for track days.

I've only had it out at Race City in Calgary, but it held its own on a track that favours high HP cars. Used to hit 180 km/h at the end of the main straight, and lapped in the low 1:35s. Even if I do say so myself, that's pretty respectable for a little FWD car with maybe 175 HP.

Overall, it's been an awesome car: fun to drive, economical, and reliable. Even though it's no rocket ship, the engine is a jewel, and I still get goosebumps revving it out to 8,000 rpms. The car is a decent handler, as well: even though it's FWD, its 2,600 lbs weight gives it an eager feel and makes it nicely tossable.

I'll be sad to see it go.  Cry

The driver's seat has been lowered about an inch

Have to ask why? To make room for a wearing a helmet when racing or just to feel sportier?

I'll be sad to see it go.  Cry

Any car you spend that much time with and in is sad to see go. It does look very tasteful.

Why selling? Just time to move on / for a change, now living a different lifestyle and need more space, or selling while it's still worth something and before potential issues come up even though it's been reliable?

I really liked those Civic SiR's, especially in that Electric Blue colour. Yours is a well maintained example  Thumbs up Was considering one when they offered it on the more basic Coupe - 2000MY I guess?

Will this mean a username change?  Poke

I'm 6'3" and the car came stock with a sunroof, so headroom was tight. I also like to drive with the seatback fully upright (no gangsta posing for me), so the only way I could drive the car with a helmet was to lower the seat.

As for why I'm selling it? It's kind of an all-of-the-above. I guess after almost eleven years with it, I'm just ready to move on. We'll see, though. I'm not advertising it yet, and if nothing else out there really grabs me, I may yet hang onto the Civic for a while longer.

Nice car that's in incredible shape for 10 years old.

I remember the SiR came out. It was a big deal for an economy car to have 160 hp.   That generation of Civic is bulletproof.

I guess I'll have to hurry up and find a new user name... the Civic is now officially sold.  Undecided  Cry

I posted it for sale on a local car forum last night and less than 24 hours later it's now gone. Sold to the first buyer who came to look at it - $3,200 cash, and more importantly, a quick, easy sale.

I'm surprised that's the selling price for that car now. I remember it doesn't seem to long ago that the asking price for one of those was $14k... I guess time goes by more quickly than I thought! :S

Congratulations on the sale - an easy sale is a nice thing. Anything in the pipes to replace it? Smiley

Oh, people are still asking crazy prices for these cars. There's currently one for sale in Edmonton with an asking price of $7,500.

Mine was in good shape, but 270,000kms is 270,000kms. After 11 years of awesome service, I figure it didn't owe me anything. I just wanted to sell it fast, so posted it at $3,500. It was either that or donate it to the Kidney Foundation for a tax receipt.

And, yes, there is a replacement in the works. After three months of waiting, my new GTI should be here by the end of the week!

Awesome car, loved the color.

I felt the same when I had to sell my Civic EX 2000, didn't have enough room in the garage...

Anyway, lets forget the sad part, congrats on your new purchase.

After 3 months of waiting, I can imagine you're excited to get your hands on the new GTI. Very Nice ride. Drool

Glad to hear that the sale of your SiR went painlessly. I also have much affection for that model SiR. That 1.6L Vtec is a great engine even by today's standards much less 11 years ago, a slick shifting transmission, and such a nice handling chassis too. I almost bought one myself back in 99 but they were so popular and hard to find at dealers. I ended up buying a 140hp version of the Integra mainly because it was a little easier to come by and a very similar feeling car. Honda was really on a roll during that period.

I'll bet even with 270K there is still alot of life in that car if the new owner takes care of it.
