^^But they were bringing the same weak powertrain.  You have to admit, the Euro versions had better powertrains..

The GS (2.0L turbo) is the only one to get. I wouldn't buy the NA 2.4L I4.
One thing I don't like is the green instrument, radio display and switch gear lighting. Why couldn't they just leave it alone (orange on Opels)? Green looks dated.

I would rather have green than red, and I would rather have red than orange.

Quote
Too bad they are not bringing the Astra hatch to N/A. GM would've had me interested especially with the 1.6L turbo and Opel interchangeable parts (grill and badges) for under $25K.

They tried bringing the Astra hatch here just a year or so ago, unchanged from the European version, and nobody bought it.  Once burned, twice shy.  Can't say I blame them for not trying again immediately.

We've been through this argument before. They brought an old model at the end of its life cycle, already surpassed by the competition in every aspect, manufactured in Europe at high production costs, without a substantial marketing budget. It was a wrong business case in every way.

Now they are doing it right with the Regal - designed for the global markets and manufactured locally (Canada). They could've done the same with the new Astra which now it's competitive with the rest of the class.

I want the colour that is best for night driving   so red/orange for me.

I'm pretty sure that green is as good for night driving as red or orange.  That's why Saab uses it, as do fighter planes.

The real offenders for night driving are white and blue light, even if they make for attractive gauges.

See, that's the whole thing; this is not an American car.

Will it be a Canadian or American car when production shifts to Canada next year.

They are shipping from port to dealers now. I'd imagine in Toronto within 2-3 weeks.

I'm still confused on Buick's plans for its future line-up ... if you can call 2 models a line-up.  The 2011 Regal is getting more attention than the Lacrosse (post-Allure) ever did.  The 2 vehicles are very similar and on the same platform.  Sporty vs comfort?

Looks like they will have the Regal as the smaller sporty sedan, the LaCrosse/Allure as the larger full size, the Enclave fills the large luxury SUV segment, and there are two other products that we've heard mentioned before: a small sedan and a small CUV of some kind.

Well, an extra 6 inches in length can make all the difference in the world, or so I've been told. ;D

aqua, what will the cxl 6spd manual price point be?    i ask because a friend is shopping now.  he is looking at the 128, 323, is250, a3, and on the outside i am trying to convince him to look at the gti.  he has an old maxima and he wants to go smaller.  i told him about the regal and he likes the looks of it.  definitely he needs convincing, since buicks have never appealed to the urban toronto crowd.

The manual is delayed introduction for later in the year, so unless your friend is shopping early he may be out of luck. I'm sure the price will be very competitive against the vehicles you listed. Once in dealerships, go take a look at the vehicle and relay your thoughts - I'm interested in what an Audi owner and potential purchaser think.

i will be checking it out for sure.  they put the price tag of the cxl at 27k usd with the turbo version being 29.5k.  soooooo, in canada it will be 33k to 35.5k??   that's for the auto.  will they both eventually come with a manual?    hummm if they can undercut the a4, 3 series, is250 by 5k they will have a big hit on their hands.  unfortunately for me, i would love to consider the wagon but its going to be auto only right?

I saw a full page ad in a Detroit newspaper..you know the ones with 2 dozen cars with pictures and prices for each?  Most of the cars were Regals and LaCrosses.  Oddly, every Regal on the page except for one was more expensive than the LaCrosse.  And even on Buicks web page the base MSRP are identical.  I was under the impression the Regal was going to be cheaper than the LaCrosse, but this doesn't appear to be the case.

Why are they priced so similarly, and will this hurt sales?

maybe the regal comes with more options?    also,  it seems these two cars are aimed at different people.   lacrosse=luxury, regal=sport sedan?  i was at the bmw dealership yesterday and the 128i was more than a 323.  (bigger engine, a couple of more standard options in the 128)

And the 128 has been roundly criticized for being "too expensive".  But I don't think a base 1 Series is the same price as a base 3 Series like the very similar pricing of the Buicks..
