mazda 3 rust warranty
« on: November 11, 2009, 05:02:16 pm »
i bought a 2004 mazda 3 last year, I noticed that rust was a major problem on the vehicles. I was told that a 7yr old or younger mazda 3 is under warranty.i was told that they actually repair the rust.
i borught my car into Mazda brossard, in Quebec, and with no problems they made an appointment for me to bging my car in, i was told they are going to replace my 2 doors, paint my trunk, and also paint my rear quarter panels...i was shocked, all i had was a few bubbles of rust.
I just want to say, anyone with these type of rust probs on their mazda should should take advantage of this great warranty.
i expect to get my car back tomorrow....great sevice.

Yup, already aware of this.  I am moving you to the Technical section where you'll find more discussions on this subject.  Glad everything turned out well for you, Tony.

Nice to hear you were treated so well. I had same experience and I was also not original owner. I had mine doen at Mazda in Pointe-Claire Quebec.

Some here have had problems getting repairs done. I suspect the problem might be in their approach and the way they ask for help with problem.

Being teamed up with Ford has not helped teach them anything about rust. I have seen Fords with paint falling off in sheets.

Service rep told me that rusting issue has been addressed in 2007 models and newer. I hope this is true because I like my Mazda and would consider getting another one in future if indeed the rusting is addressed.

I suspect that they would rather fix the problem than continue to do these repairs.

Living my BMW dream.

A co-worker and friend had his Mazda3 (2004) in for rust repair a few weeks ago due to a rusted B-pillar on both rear doors.  They replaced the entire door (minus glass and interior panel), painted (but did NOT blend, but they did a good job so its not noticeable), and also touched up some nicks in his hood and trunk au gratis.

Kudos to Mazda for FINALLY stepping up to the plate on this.  Too bad they wouldn't do the same for my wife's 2002 Protege5... :(
2004 TSX. Lovin' every minute of it!

After a typical Wisconsin winter, I noticed rust on both sides of my 2004 Mazda 3 hatch where the rear quarter meets the plastic bumper. The rear wheel well lips are pretty bad also. I can't tell about the rocker panels, they are covered with a piece of plastic that runs the entire length of the body.
It looks like Mazda is stepping up in Canada, are they doing the same in US ???
