The EGR system is very important on the Insight in helping it achieve the outstanding fuel mileage it gets.  Apparently, the EGR plates on the Insight are prone to having some carbon buildup, so I decided to remove the assembly and de-carbon the plate and the gasket.    In doing so, I snapped a pic of the teeny engine.  You just don't realize how small it is. How small? About a foot..that's it!

Does it need to be bigger if it does the job?

That's smaller than my foot!  And no, it doesn't have to big, but that's not the point he's trying to make, IMO.

It's not how big it is, it's how you use it.   Grin

Despite myths to the contrary, the battery packs aren't THAT expensive.  There are a couple of outfits in the US that even sell refurbished units with warranty for ~$1000.  Although the one in my car is brand new.

As far as the rusted bolt tops?  They're under a beauty cover.  You never see them...

Maybe not.  But for just commuting to/from work, it's great.
