Just curious...how much was the dealer asking for the 2006 Acura TL Navi? A local Honda dealer is selling a 2006 Acura TL Navi with 55K for $24995.

I don't think the dealer I dealt with in Barrie had a 2006 TL w/ Navi.   My local dealer down the street in Aurora has a 2006 TL Navi for 25,9K, but it has 111K on it.   Sounds like your local dealer has a great deal there.

Sound the bell, the car shopping is done.

In the end I purchased a 2008 Acura TL Navi.  It's got 53K, and lots of bumper to bumper warranty left (which hopefully I won't need).  It is also a Acura CPO car, so the powertrain warranty is extened to 6yrs 160KM.
The car comes with nice little extras, 3M clear nose mask, rear decklid lip spoiler, full Acura winter mats, as well as the TL trunk tray.

As part of the deal, its getting a set of Michelin X-Ice 2 tires, on separate wheels.   I got it for 29,999 +tax, which I feel great about.

Attached is the link to the dealers website for pictures.   I pick it up Wednesday.

Congrats!
Truly a lovely and wonderful car. One of my fav sport sedans. I am sure you are gonna love it.

She has as much interest in learning manual as most men have in learning scrapbooking techniques...<shudder>

Just checking, but an RX-8 in auto would be automotive blasphemy right?

Wow...stuff happens fast 'round here.  Nice TL LP...they feel smaller than they are...a huge compliment to any car I say.

On the auto RX-8 being blasphemy -  YES!!!  This is supposed to be a freak'n enthusiast forum.  Rrocket and Ovr, how are those scrapbooks coming along?

So, that makes this a great enthusiast car too, right? Cheesy

Too bad that I need a 4x4/AWD for work. Otherwise, a luxury sedan like a TL would be awfully nice. Not too sure about the pearl white colour.

Hmmmmm.....I think it has to have an "enthusiast" in the car to qualify.  However, if their version of being a car enthusiast is making robots from cars.............whatever makes them happy.

Loudpedal,

Does the following document match your Owner's Manual on the TL?

http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/OM/MD0404/MD0404O00183B.pdf

There is an 2006 TL owner at RFD who was asking if he could minus size his 17 inch tires to 16.

Found this link about minus sizing effecting Stability Assist on the TL:

http://www.autospies.com/news/YIKES-Downsize-your-rims-on-your-Acura-TL-and-lose-your-stability-assist-5238/

If one keeps the rolling diameter the same and the track the same the only difference doing -1 sizing can make is that the sideways stiffness of the wheel/tire assembly will be a bit different. Can the stability system sense that, I doubt it.  If fact I'd think that the difference in sidewall stiffness between summer and winter tires would be at least as much.

A 08 TL owner posted at RFD that he went with 16 inch rims and 205/55R16 Michelin X-Ice2 (Note: 215/55R16 would be a better match, but not available for the X-Ice2). Not sure who to believe anymore.

Picked up the TL tonight, what a great car.  I think I'm really going to enjoy it.   In fact, I don't think I could have found a better all around car that best matches needs and wants.    I can see why Acura has sold truckloads of them.

Thanks for the input enthusiast friends!

The dealer put 16 silver steelies on as part of my deal (with TPMS), and they've got Michelin X-Ice 2's in the size 215/55/16...just checked out the sidewalls.

Was there anything in the owner's manual about stability assist and keeping the same rim size as stock?

Hmmmmm.....I think it has to have an "enthusiast" in the car to qualify.  However, if their version of being a car enthusiast is making robots from cars.............whatever makes them happy.

Rrocket:  Welcome to Rrocket driving enthusiast radio...I'm your host Rrocket...let's take our first call:

Caller:  Hi Rrocket....you're awesome!

Rrocket: Yes, I am...how can I help you today?

Caller:  Well, I am a driving enthusiast...but my wife thinks a car is just something to go from Point A to B...so I may need to compromise on the car a little...does that still make me a driving enthusiast?

Rrocket:  Hell ya!  You're calling in arent' you? What'cha looking at?

Caller:  Well, I was thinking about a VW GTI...but I live in the city...and I really don't like to drive in traffic...so I might go with the DSG...you know.  I'm still a driving enthusiast right?

Rrocket:  Yessir you are...it's no Toyota...but I like the GTI...and the DSG is quicker anyway...and all of your upshifts and downshifts will be perfect!!  No heel-toe required!

Caller:  Heel and what?  Oh...well anyway, I don't usually travel that far...and my wife...you know...she's not into cars like us...but she likes to be green...so maybe I should look at a Prius?  That's still an enthusiast car right?

Rrocket:  You betcha...if you like green...and that's what YOU like...then that's an enthusiast car...and you, my friend are a car enthusiast!  Boo-Ya!

Caller:  Umm...OK...well...i just looked at the pricing...that's too much money...I think I'll just get the silver Corolla...with the auto...not for me or anything...just because it's the city, and my wife, and it's a pain, and all that.  That's still an enthusiast car right?  And we're still good on the fact I'm an enthusiast right?

Rrocket:  Whatever makes you happy!!!  And if you're calling TopGun radio after this, just tell him it's a stick, and he'll be good with it.  Thanks for the call...

Rrocket:  After the break, we'll talk about why RX-8 owners are having plastic surgery to fix laugh lines too early in their lives...what's up with that?

The manual states the following with respect to VSA and tire sizes:

"Driving with varying tire and wheel sizes may cause the VSA to malfunction.  When replacing tires, make sure they are the same size and type as your original tires"

I think the key word here is varying tire and wheel sizes.    I suspect the VSA system gets all wonked out if the vehicle were to have front and rear wheels of varying circumference between them.

Exactly right.  As long as you stay close to stock, it will be fine.  I know a couple of people with TL with winter tires and they've never said a word about the car being freaked out about it...
