I wouldn't be surprised if the Challenger has significantly boosted sales of the Charger and 300, which were starting to get long in the tooth.  People come in because the Challenger is just so cool, but once they're in and their significant other is starting to question the purchase, the salesman points out that the Charger drives similarly, is a lot more practical, and probably is cheaper.

I was shocked by how well the Chllenger drove. Probably shouldn't be, knowing all the E-Class DNA under the body, but I was.
Made me actually look at the Charger/300 in a different light. Probably a heck of a fun sedan, either or those.

Hmmm..GM shows $37K on their site.  Are they discounting already?  Even at $37K, I have yet to see one for that. All the local ones are more or less loaded up.  I have not seen one for any less than low/nearly mid $40s.

I did see one today on the lot.  It was white, and had an interesting goldish sticker trim around the front fenders.  Looked not too bad at all.  Not sure if this is a GM package or some aftermarket thing?

Been trying (not too hard, I admit) to arrange a test drive through a local dealer. A very big Chevy store, they are still not getting any for stock. Everything is pre-sold by the time it comes in.

Should have clarified that. I doubt I would be interested without a Hemi, and a handling package. That is a hell of an engine.
And anything with a SRT8 badge.

To be honest, my desire to drive a Camaro is not great enough to want to drive four hours for the pleasure.
Also, I don't think I have yet recovered fully from all the laser and radar hits my body took last time on final leg into Windsor. I have never seen as many cops as there were on the 401 down there.

Just thought of one other thing. I told them I didn't want to drive one unless it was a stick, so that might be slowing things down some.

Rrocket, your point about the big difference in driving enjoyment between the V8 and V6 cars is true in my experience too.  I've had a rental 300C that really impressed me and a rental Magnum SXT that really UNimpressed me.

i just ordered a camaro rs from hogan Chev  a couple of weeks ago , delivery in April.
it will be all black v6 standard tranny 20 inch wheels  the only thing i added was a block heater rust proofing and that dura shine coating . out the door $ 31510 plus freight and pdi  and of course taxes
i had also the opportunity to test drive the vehicle the same day and it was what sold me on purchasing the v6 plenty of power for my needs and gas mileage to boot same car only automatic , was impressed with the v6 power , the ride on the highway was excellent as was the acceleration into traffic. there is a noticeable blind spot but the mirrors that were on the car are as good or better then vision wise as my tacoma truck mirrors  , and my neck turns well as a back up to those mirrors. gm did alot of work on the sound of this car and it paid off is it the v8 400 plus horsepower mill no of course not , but it sure snarls upon hard acceleration or a nice grumble when driving away from a stop sign .
i have read a complaint in reviews about tire noise inside the car and wind noise , i experienced none of this, the trunk is a joke but i didn,t buy it to pack up with stuff, the rear seats fold down which gives plenty of room  for golf clubs , hockey eq , groceries ect ect .
i also own as stated above a Toyota Tacoma TRD  crew cab so i use it if i,m loading stuff .
i looked at the challenger at last years auto show , sat in it and left it , sorry to many bad experiences to ever trust that manufacturer again and the dealer network . i test drove a mustang but when a V6 can produce just 9 horsepower less then the ford v8 i,ll go with the less horsepower and better fuel rating , very nice car mind you .
