When experimenting, I was able to nail down 2.8L/100km (84 US MPG) mileage for a stretch of about 120kms.

Was that "calculated" or from the "indication" on the dash?

I find that hard to believe as that is 100 MPG IMP. Fuel calculations are most accurate over the entire volume of the gas tank.

HCRV:  That was calculated (it was off only .1 from the display).  I thought it was hard to believe too.  But the real nuts are getting almost 100 US MPG!  So my mileage in comparison isn't that great.  My best thus for for a stretch og about 50kms is just under 2.6L/100kms.

Julie: Thanks alot!!

Airbalancer:  It seems to be affected a little, but a bit hard to tell.  Import Queen has been using it exclusively in the city and she's getting 4.5L/100km in the cold weather with winter fuel.  I had been averaging 4.0L/100kms or so before the cold weather, but with less city driving than Import Queen.  Still...4.5L/100km in the city is pretty good for "old" hybrid technology.
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

Nice
I noticed the hit more in city then on the highway
On the highway still around the 4.2-4.6, was up to 5.2 once, but that was driving into a 75km head wind
I would like to try out a EV that would even get 20km on a charge since I am usually less 10  km from the highway and in Cobourg everything is less then 10 km around trip

OK, fill me in here.

Is that mileage combined (running on the gas engine and electric motor) or just running on the gas engine?
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Mostly off the gas engine.  But it's hard to explain.  When you accelerate, either to reach desired speed or off a light, the battery is kicking in helping move you along.  For example, in 5th gear at around 80km/h, if I floor it to either pass or adjust speed, I'm getting 5.0L/100km WFO...because the battery is doing much of the work.

There's a fine line to balance with the accelerator.  Once you get the car into "Lean Burn" mode, your minimum mileage is 3L/100km.  Keeping it at 80km/h or under yields the best results.  Keeping momentum is key.  Avoid hills.  Unlike the newer hybrid, it really matters how you drive this car, and there is a bit of a technique.  Not hard to learn...but you DO have to make driving adjustments to pull out maximum mileage.  Just driving it "normal" (like any other car) yields a still respectable 4.5L/100kms or so.  Yesterday I did a stretch of 15kms at 2.1L/100kms at an average speed of 60km/h.

Thanks for that explanation. I haven't followed these and later hybrids since they came out.

Doing test runs is one thing, but the real world is something else when you have to go from A to B, have hills, etc.

In any case, you're good for TDI mileage or better.

RR from Windsor area, I do not think they have hills there

My mileage is worst going to Peterborough then going to Toronto because of the hills
